New York Jets running back Isaiah Davis discussed his excitement to return to London to take on the Denver Broncos in Week 6 as well as his fellow running back bond and facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The New York Jets are hoping to get their campaign back on course in Week 3. The swashbuckling Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcome the AFC East outfit on Sunday, with the Jets – hit by Justin Fields’ injury setback – looking to gather steam before their upcoming London visit.
The Denver Broncos await in Week 6, facing New York at Tottenham Stadium. It marks a second transatlantic journey in two campaigns for the Jets, who took on the Minnesota Vikings twelve months ago. But this time around, the Jets will serve as the home side.
One player who is especially eager to head back to London is Isaiah Davis. The running back and special teams specialist chatted to The Mirror about the Jets’ Week 3 opponents, his NFL journey thus far, and competing overseas.

Mentality
“I’m someone who likes to do it the right way. I feel like my journey, I was overlooked and underrated. People thought I was so delusional, but I knew I would achieve my goal of making it to the NFL. I knew nothing was gonna stop me. I got one opportunity in college, and I made the most of it. It’s changed my life.
“Now, I try to make myself and everyone around me better. I’m not selfish, because I want everyone to succeeed, but at the end of the day, I’m someone that just wants to win.”
Facing the Buccaneers with Tyrod Taylor
“We all got full belief in Tyrod,” Davis said. “Hee’s been doing this for 15 years now. He’s shown in practice that the team can trust him. He’s proved himself to everybody. Any time I got a question or a problem, he’s always quick to answer. I think we all got full faith in him.
“We just need to stay true to who we are. I think they’ve got good defense. The Bucs play physical, but I think the biggest thing is we just go out and play our brand of football.”
RB brotherhood
“It’s great. Definitely a competitive group,” Davis declared. “I feel like everyone has their little strengths and I feel we do a good job of working together and trying to perfect everyone’s… not weaknesses, but things that people struggle with. It’s cool because I think we all got full confidence in whoever’s on the field. I feel like we see ach other in practice and prove ourselves to each other, so we all believe in whoever’s on the field to get the job done.
“It’s really been good seeing the growth of Braelon, coming in with him and seeing Breece and the player he’s become. We’re really close, and it’s definitely cool to be in a room with these kind of guys and to build a relationship. I’m blessed to be here in a great room with such talented guys that I can learn from.”
Welcome to the NFL moment
“We had a scrimmage against Washington here and I ran inside zone and broke it to the left. It was me one-on-one with the safety and I just lowered my shoulder rather than tried to take the fight to him.
“Well, his shoulder pad got up under mine and kind of flipped me. Yeah, I felt that one. That was definitely my welcome to the NFL moment.”
Returning to London with the Jets
“It’s been another blessing that has come with this journey,” Davis said. “You know, I never got the opportunity to travel out of the country until I actually played in London. Seeing all the fans wearing different jerseys where everyone’s cheering every play, that was different. Even going down there in March and seeing the competitiveness of the girls playing flag football, they definitely take sports over there very seriously.
“I really just want to see how our fans turn out. Hopefully it’s a game for us where, when we’re out on defense and the other team’s on offense, we’ve got that homefield advantage with the crowd bringing energy and making it harder for the offense to communicate. To see that energy from the crowd and our fans, and seing how loud they’re going to be and what they’re going to be about, it’s going to be awesome.”
He added: “Getting this opportunity to travel to London again is definitely a blessing. I never take it for granted. I just try to like take it all in, and when I get home, I’ll show my family what it’s like over there.”
The Jets face the Buccaneers in Week 3 on Sunday, Sept. 21. Later in the season, the Jets come to London to face the Broncos in Week 6 on Sunday, Oct. 12.
