A mum has been given just four months to live after doctors allegedly missed her cancer – as her furious daughter vowed to “never forgive” the NHS.
Janice Davis, 67, was delivered the crushing news alongside her husband, Phil, that her stomach cancer “could have been detected earlier” by medics.
The grandmother was diagnosed with bladder cancer and underwent surgery in 2021. Since then, Janice has been suffering from multiple infections, sickness, stomach pain, and has struggled to put on weight.
Despite being a previous cancer patient and undergoing numerous MRI and CT scans, GP visits, and camera investigations, she was repeatedly told there was nothing wrong, according to her daughter.

Doctors at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield informed Janice that her incurable stomach cancer had allegedly been missed despite it being present on MRI scans a year ago.
In a heart-wrenching letter, a doctor states: “I have a frank duty of candour discussion about this today and apologised that in retrospect, the gastric cancer could have been detected earlier. I have apologised on behalf of the trust and assured her that it has been flagged in the radiology meetings.’
Janice has now been given between just four to twelve months to live, which has left her family heartbroken.
The grandmother exclusively told The Mirror: “When I was told they had missed the stomach cancer you could have knocked me down with a feather and then to be told I have four to twelve months to live because of someone’s medical error is horrific. There are no words to describe the way we have been let down by the professionals that are supposed to care for your health.
“The consultant actually put his hands up in the air upon the appointment and said, ‘I apologise, this is our fault and this could have been found much sooner’.
“He actually told us that the stomach cancer was present on MRI Scans one year ago as my mum has three monthly scans as she had bladder cancer in 2021 and this stomach cancer was completely missed.”
Her daughter Rebecca, 30, expressed her deep disappointment and mistrust towards the NHS after her mum’s cancer was allegedly overlooked.
She stated: “I feel completely in shock, I’m numb. You trust in these professionals to look after your health when you go to them for help and advice.
“Due to someone’s medical negligence I will lose my mum and that is simply not ok, its heart reaching. I’m an only child, nobody should feel the range of emotions angry, upset, frustration I’ve felt recently we’re talking life or death. I will never forgive the NHS and I will never trust them again.”
Janice and her family are refusing to give up hope. After speaking to doctors in Germany, who looked over her mum’s medical records, they believe they can help with treatment.
However, it involves a vaccine created from Janice’s blood and immunotherapy that isn’t available in the UK. The family needs to raise £37,000 for the treatment. Rebecca has set up a JustGiving page to try and raise the money.
Rebecca disclosed that they simply need to secure the funding and her mum can begin treatment immediately. She explained: “Germany is the leading provider in cancer treatments and we have to try knowing what we now know. This could extend my Mums life by years but could also put her fully into remission.
“The treatment can start as soon as possible we just need the money.”
The family has announced it intends to launch legal action against the NHS trust. NHS Mid Yorkshire Trust has been approached for comment.
