Nick Knowles will be putting his Strictly Come Dancing skills to the test very soon as his big day with fiancée Katie Dadzie approaches – with Katie spotted dress shopping in London on Friday
Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles will be putting his newfound dancing skills to use at his wedding very soon as his future wife heads out dress shopping.
Despite their 27-year age gap, Nick – who revealed his Strictly fate on Thursday – and his fiancée Katie Dadzie, a 34 year old businesswoman and mum of two, have seen their romance go from strength to strength since first crossing paths in 2019. DIY SOS host Nick, as well-known for his romantic exploits as he is for his TV presenting prowess, popped the question to Katie after nearly three years of dating.
And it looks like the happy couple’s big day is nearing as bride-to-be Katie starts the hunt for her wedding dress. The mum-of-three was all smiles as she headed out in London on Friday to try on a few white gowns. Katie was joined by her grandmother, mum Lizzie and her maid of honour as she started one of the biggest tasks on a wedding to-do list.
Katie and Nick’s lives intertwined when Katie’s daughters befriended Nick’s youngest son Eddie, eight, at a play centre. Since then, the pair haven’t been shy about expressing their fondness for each other. They caused quite a stir last year when they posed together for a photo while Katie modelled high-end lingerie.
The provocative snap, which saw Katie donning a scanty light pink outfit and Nick helping with ‘strap straightening’, was part of a birthday tribute for Nick’s 61st birthday and certainly raised eyebrows, with Katie left justifying the significant age difference between her and Nick.
Last year, Nick lashed out as he hit back at critics of his romance with a younger woman as he went public with Katie. After being pictured with his future wife, Nick wrote on Twitter (X) in January: “I’m raging. The woman I was out to dinner with when we were papped is 32, has degrees in two subjects, runs 3 businesses, is a mother of 2, is wealthier and more successful than me and is intelligent and independent unlike the abusive trolls attacking her.”
He later told The Sun: “Normally I never comment back to the trolls, but on one occasion when people were a little bit judgmental, I was angry on Katie’s behalf. I chose to be on telly so I kind of expect it for me, but for people I care about they shouldn’t have to deal with it. I’m protective of Katie, because people make assumptions about her without knowing anything about her, so that’s why I spoke.”
It will hopefully be a case of ‘third time’s a charm’ for Nick when he weds Katie, as the Strictly contestant has been married twice before. Nick was previously hitched to his first wife Gillian Knowles from 1996 to 2000, with whom he shares a son and daughter. He then romanced his second wife Jessica Rose Moor starting from 2009; they tied the knot in September 2012 but parted ways in 2017. In total, Nick is a proud father of four children.
Nick has often spoken warmly about fatherhood. In December 2022, he said: “Having an eight-year-old son at the age of 60 is the most wonderful thing in the world. It keeps you young, makes you see the world through new eyes. It reminds you of your own fascination with the world and all there is to see and do. We have a map of the world in his bedroom, and before bedtime, we go through and he names four countries in each continent. I want him to know there’s a big world out there, to travel and meet people the way I have, because it gives you a much greater understanding of humankind.”
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Nick admitted earlier this year that dating a younger woman keeps him young at heart. Gushing about his relationship, Nick declared: “You’re as young as you feel.” He even dropped hints about their awaited nuptials, revealing no rush on tying the knot given their busy lives. He mused in February: “I’ve been away for pretty much 18 months travelling, I’ve a lot of work on and Katie’s got a lot of work on with her business as well. So we will get around to it, but no set plans.”
