Nostalgia lovers go wild as Nestle brings back childhood cereal to UK shops

After many years of begging, shoppers are delighted at the return of a much loved cereal that was popular in the 80’s and 90’s as it’s been spotted on shelves recently

Foodies will be pleased to see the return of a much loved cereal returning to the UK after years of being discontinued. Popular childhood cereal Golden Graham’s is set to make a comeback, giving us all the nostalgia feels again.

Made by Nestle, the iconic cereal was popular in the 80’s and 90’s, but was sadly taken away in 2021. Now it has been announced Nestle is bringing back the whole wheat and corn square-shaped treat back after it saw fans had “missed” it.

Now shoppers can’t contain their excitement after spotting it in Home Bargains for £1.99 a box. According to The Sun, one excited fan said: “Is this real as I’ve been wanting and trying to find these for ages.” While another added: “Ran there yesterday and got 2 boxes of golden grahams. Soooooo excited.”

The brand have also confirmed the cereal will also be available in B&M, Farm Foods, Heron Foods and Aldi too. A gradual decline in sales led to the breakfast item being discontinued in the early 2000s. Much to the delight of fans, Golden Grahams was reintroduced in 2010.

However, it only lasted 11 years before being discontinued once again in 2021. Three years on from its second axing, fans of the Nestle cereal were still upset.

One X – formerly Twitter – user shared recently: “When Nestlé discontinued Golden Grahams it was the biggest insult to mankind” While wanted to know why the brand had been axed posting: “Why did Golden Grahams get discontinued when its the best cereal to have ever existed.”

Another X user said the move was a “travesty” and others say they continue to miss the breakfast brand adding; “Omg I LOVED Golden Grahams sooooo much and I crave them every now and then.

One even confessed they’d forked out a small fortune for a box after the axing: “Golden Grahams were my favourite cereal so yes I just spent £13 for a box in order to satisfy my craving for the first time in 2 long years! (Why did they stop making them in the UK?)”

It comes after Kellogg’s discontinued a popular cereal following an urgent recall last year. Chocolate flavour Corn Flakes were pulled from shelves in May 2024 after people complained of hard lumps in the cereal which could cause choking.

The popular breakfast flakes haven’t been seen in stores since – and now, Kellogg’s has confirmed they have been discontinued. Writing on X, one person asked: “Did @KelloggsUKI discontinue chocolate cornflakes again?”

A spokesperson from Kellogg’s told The Sun: “We love that Kellogg’s fans are so passionate about their favourite cereals and we’re proud to be a part of millions of people’s breakfasts each morning in the UK.

“We can never say never, but while there are no current plans to bring back Chocolate Corn Flakes, we do have lots of other exciting new products out now, like Kellogg’s Oaties and Bluey Multigrain cereal, with more coming next year for cereal lovers to try.”
