Olly Murs shocks fans as he halts show after just 20 minutes and walks off stage

By staff23 May 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Pop star Olly Murs told his fans ‘I need to go now’ after performing just 20 minutes of his sold-out Glasgow show as he walked off stage leaving the crowd baffled

Olly Murs stops show due to concerns with his voice

Olly Murs had his fans stunned this evening when he walked off stage and didn’t return after just six songs. The pop star, 40, had been performing to a huge crowd in Glasgow when he made the shock decision to not carry on.

He was ready to wow the crowd with his chart-topping hits on the second sold-out show in the city. However, in a surprise move he made an announcement after just five tracks.

Olly told his fans: “My voice has gone.” He had performed Kiss Me Like You Mean It when he made the shock confession.

He said: “This has never happened to me before but you can hear my voice is going. I want to give you the concert you deserve so I can’t go on.

“I’m going to come back, but I need to go now.” The arena was left in silence and the lights went up. Furious fans quickly realised cheeky chap Olly wasn’t joking and he indeed had left.

Fans, who had forked out over £57.55 for tickets, were baffled as security started directing thousands of them out the door.

Olly later took to his Instagram where he issued an apology. He filmed himself as he said: “Glasgow, I am so sorry tonight. So sorry that I had to walk off after six songs and cancel the show.

“I have never done this in 15 years. Most of the time, as singers, you can kind of get through it if your voice isn’t 100 percent but I walked out tonight thinking my voice was great.

“I maybe felt a little bit rundown but I didn’t think I couldn’t do the show because I wouldn’t have come out there otherwise. So, to walk off after six songs, I am so sorry. 15 years I have never done this.”

He added: “As you can hear from my voice, I was sounding rubbish and it is unfair for you guys to spent all that money to come and see me. You deserve the best show and me being at my best. I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

Olly revealed he was going to see a doctor tonight to get medical advice. He is due to perform this weekend, with a show in Manchester on Friday, Birmingham on Saturday and a sold-out show at London’s O2 on Sunday.

It was the second time Olly had cancelled a show at Glasgow’s Hydro arena as last year he dramatically pulled out of supporting Take That minutes before doors opened.

He was also forced to cancel two UK gigs last month. The star took to his social media to tell his fans that his Hull and Brighton gigs would not be going ahead.

The 40-year-old spoke on his Instagram stories where he explained why he won’t be able to perform. Olly said that he had come down with a nasty stomach bug which has also “ripped through” his band crew.

He went on to apologise for letting his fans down and promised that he would be able to reschedule the gigs for future dates. The singer wrote: “I hate that I have to write this & really so sorry to let you guys down, but unfortunately, we are having to reschedule our next two shows in Brighton & Hull.

“The gastroenteritis bug I had last night is currently ripping through our band and crew, which makes it impossible to put on a show for you.

“We’ll be taking a break for 48 hours to ensure everyone can be fit and healthy for the remainder of the tour. Thank you for understanding and we’re working hard to bring you news of our rescheduled dates as soon as we can. Love Olly x.”
