& Other Stories’ ‘Dubai chocolate’ pistachio perfume converted me to a sweet fragrance lover

By staff26 February 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Mirror’s shopping writer Grace tested out & Other Stories’ ‘Dubai chocolate-inspired’ pistachio perfume to see if it could convert her to liking Gourmand fragrances

I’ve never been a fan of sweet fragrances, rather opting for fresh, citrus scents as my go-to. However, with the rapid increase in popularity of Gourmand scents, I wanted to find one that I actually liked and worked on my skin. And I’ve finally been converted thanks to & Other Stories Perfect Pistachio Eau De Toilette, £32.

Pistachio has become a bit of a trending ingredient over the past few months thanks to the viral Dubai chocolate bar making its rounds across the internet. Subsequently, pistachio has woven its way into everything from food to beauty products and fashion, and I can’t pretend that I’m not enjoying it.

So when I spotted & Other Stories pistachio fragrance, I knew I had to give it a go. The main notes are pistachio nuts, warm milk and hazelnut, with the base notes being candied vanilla, sandalwood and musk. The result is a rich, creamy, almost chocolate-like smell combined with the woody musk to create a grown-up Gourmand fragrance.

& Other Stories Perfect Pistachio EDT review

According to & Other Stories Instagram page, Perfect Pistachio is currently the brand’s fragrance spotlight of the month, which is actually what prompted me to test this out. And I’m so happy I did. As I said above, I’m really not a big fan of overly sweet Gourmand fragrances, finding they end up smelling a bit too sickly on the skin. However, Perfect Pistachio has completely changed my mind.

I have a sweet tooth myself, so it was frustrating that my sense of smell didn’t reflect that. The thing I enjoyed most about Perfect Pistachion was how mature it smelt. Gourmand fragrances remind me of when I was younger and have more child-like scents, which is why I never got on with them before, but this fragrance has made me see sweet perfumes in a completely different light.

I tested the scent out at a dinner with my friends and have never been complimented on a fragrance so much in my life. My friends couldn’t believe it when I told them it was from a high-street brand and only £32.
I’m actually a fan of more affordable, high-street fragrances over luxury ones, as I end up using them more. I’m less nervous about wasting the product or losing the bottle due to lower price points, and therefore, get way more cost per wear out of them, and this one is no exception.

My only gripe with the perfume is that it didn’t last particularly long on me, only a couple of hours or so. Considering the price and the fact that this is an Eau de Toilette, this isn’t the worst thing in the world. I’d be happy to apply it more frequently, knowing I can just pop to my local store and pick up another one for under £40.

Overall, Perfect Pistachio smells far more expensive than its humble price tag, and now that this scent has converted me, I’m excited to try out some more Gourmand fragrances.

Some other pistachio scents I would like to try next include Kayali’s Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 Eau de Parfum Intense, £79 ; DS & Durga Pistachio, £155 ; and Marks & Spencer’s ultra-affordable Sweet Pistachio Eau de Toilette, £6.
