Oxfam shopper spends £5 on mystery bag and is overjoyed by designer find

By staff24 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Becky, who is known as Becky’s Bazaar on Instagram, is a huge fan of charity shop bargains and has managed to find plenty of low-cost gems in the past – and now she has shared her thoughts on the Oxfam mystery bags

Sometimes, you might notice your wardrobe bursting at the seams with clothes you no longer wear, or your home cluttered with toys and homeware that gather dust. With the changing seasons, it’s an ideal moment for a thorough declutter, allowing you to take stock of your belongings and pass on those unneeded items to someone who’ll cherish them.

While plenty turn to platforms like Depop, eBay, and Vinted to sell their surplus goods for a bit of extra cash, others find joy in donating to second-hand shops and charity stores.

Online thrifting guru Becky – known as Becky’s Bazaar online –boasts a whopping 330,000 followers on Instagram and is a staunch advocate for charity shop treasures, having unearthed numerous affordable finds.

On a recent jaunt to Oxfam during ‘second hand September’, Becky stumbled upon an enticing offer advertised on a board outside the store: £5 mystery bags, each promising five surprise items.

The bags were marked with clothing sizes, and she eagerly selected one sized UK 8/10, keen to discover its contents.

Becky took to her Instagram to reveal her haul in a video, where she first showcased a Pull and Bear sparkly blue glitter crop top with long sleeves.

Her mystery bag also included a leopard print tee and a pair of frilly denim shorts which she “loves”.

Becky was over the moon with her peach-coloured blouse find, but it was the white Moschino jogging bottoms that really took her by surprise. Becky gushed: “They’ve got this detail on the bottom. A very cute pair of joggers. Love them.”

Wrapping up her bargain spree, Becky mused: “Every single item was something I’d wear. Would you pay £5 for this?”

Folks were clearly wowed by Becky’s thrifty finds, with one person exclaiming: “Wow, good haul,” and another adding: “Best one yet.”

“The shorts are cute,” remarked a third admirer, while another concurred: “Love love love the shorts, deffo worth 5 pounds.”

Oxfam Musewell Hill weighed in with praise, writing: “Most definitely a serious bargain. You will not see such items for that price as well as in good condition. Enjoy.”

Recently Becky also shared that she managed to find a charity shop that sells £1 items. She discovered a Sue Ryder shop in St Helens, Merseyside, that “gives clothes a second chance” if they don’t sell in the regular Sue Ryder shops after two weeks. “It’s so cool that all of these clothes are given a second chance,” Becky said.

Meanwhile a charity shop worker recently issued a stern message to people donating items to charity shops.

Meg, known online as “charity shop clown”, insists she’s had enough of witnessing people abandon bags of items outside the shop where she works.
