Ozzy Osbourne tributes left outside Black Sabbath star’s home after heartbreaking death

Mourners have begun leaving flowers and written tributes outside Ozzy Osbourne’s home in Buckinghamshire following the Black Sabbath star’s tragic death.

The father-of-four’s legion of loyal fans were left heartbroken yesterday when it was announced that The Osbournes star had died, aged 76, “with his family and surrounded by love”.

Paying tribute to the Prince of Darkness, just days after he performed his final farewell gig in Birmingham, Ozzy’s fans left cards outside his home, with one reading: “RIP Ozzy, you was a true legend. That will never be forgotten. So very sad. From Louise, Charlie, Courtney.” Another read: “Rest in peace Ozzy, the Prince of Darkness.” And an envelope said simply: “Legend.”

Meanwhile, a Black Sabbath fan, who asked to be named only as Jonathan, left a bouquet of flowers and told the Mirror: ”I’ve loved Ozzy since I was a kid. He meant everything. They [Black Sabbath] changed everything and inspired so people.”

Flowers, cards, candles and Aston Villa football scarves were also left on the Black Sabbath Bridge bench on Broad Street today in Birmingham as fans are left reeling by the singer’s loss.

Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne and his family announced his death on Tuesday (July 24) with a heartbreaking tribute. Their statement read: ”It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Earlier this month the Changes star bid a farewell to fans with a Black Sabbath reunion, Back To the Beginning, telling thousands of heavy metal fans at Villa Park, Birmingham – a stone’s throw from where Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 – that it was “so good to be on this stage” as he performed his last set from a large black throne.

As news of his death broke, fans around the world flocked to pay tribute after Ozzy stole their hearts in the first reality show of its kind, The Osbournes, which launched in 2002.

Fans “just fell in love with” the Osbourne family after the launch of their hit reality show, thanks to the clear affection they shared, an expert has told The Mirror.

The show, which aired on MTV between 2002 and 2005, gave audiences a new glimpse into the life of the Black Sabbath frontman. Despite the band’s ongoing success at the time, The Osbournes revealed a softer, more humorous side to the dad-of-six.

Nick Caruso, staff editor at TVLine, told us: “You turn on this show and you get this like little jazzy cover theme song of the song ‘Crazy Train’, and there’s all these bright colours and fancy editing, and we just got to see this like totally 180-degree different side of Ozzy which was just surprising and incredible to watch. For some reason, we kind of just fell in love with them the same way that we grew to love Ozzy and Sharon as like a marital unit.”
