German rapper and actor Pablo Grant, who worked with Berlin rap group BHZ, has sadly died aged 26 as tributes poured in for the star following his shock death from thrombosis
Rapper and actor Pablo Grant has tragically died aged 26 as tributes pour in for the star.
The German star, who was known as Dead Dawg, is said to have died of thrombosis. His death was announced by the Berlin rap combo BHZ on Sunday evening. They shared a black and white photo of Pablo and wrote: “A press release from the family. The artist, actor, musician and part of BHZ, Pablo Grant, died unexpectedly on February 6th at the age of 26 as a result of a thrombosis.
“The family and friends of the deceased are heartbroken and ask that privacy be respected and no contact be made at this difficult time until further notice. We would like to thank all the fans who have accompanied and supported Pablo’s artistic path over the years.”
Fans flooded the comments with tributes as one said: “Rest in peace Pablo!! You have shaped. You have touched so many people. Legend forever.” Another added: “My condolences to all the family & friends!” Someone else commented: “Thank you for being you.” A fourth wrote: “Rest in power, King. You touched an entire generation.”
A fan added: “You shone so brightly, inspired so much and always showed so much love. A hero, a genius and a person with an endless heart. We will forever honor your name, everything you stand for and your presence in our hearts/souls carry on. A true hero. A true king. Thank you for your blessings and rest in peace brother.”
Rap combo BHZ had cancelled their tour just a few days ago. They were due to go on tour on Thursday (February 8) but cancelled the performances three days before without rescheduling dates. Posting on Instagram, a statement read: “Due to very short-term illness-related reasons, we have to cancel our upcoming tour without replacement before the planned tour starts.”
It was set to start in Vienna and end on March 1 in Berlin. Thrombosis is a serious condition where blood clots form in the bloodstream and can cause life-threatening complications. Pablo also acted in multiple TV shows and movies. He starred in Misfit, SOKO Hamburg and In aller Freundschaft.
Pablo, also known as Pablo Grant-Zapata or under the stage name Dead Dawg, was born in Berlin in 1997. He trained as an actor in 2017 at the Transform acting school in Berlin. Pablo made his debut in cinema as the supporting role of Bino in the third Bibi and Tina film, Bibi & Tina: Girls Against Boys, which was released in German cinemas in January 2016.
He joined the young cast of German comedy film Misfit in 2019 as well as having supporting roles in crime series In Truth and as the son of the forensic doctor Dr. Fred Abel in A Case for Dr. Abel. Since 2020, Pablo appeared in Police Call 110 as chief detective. Last year, he played the leading role in the television series In Aller Friendship for an episode. The star also released his solo album Dunklschwarz in 2019.
