A couple who recently married have been hit with a wave of abuse from trolls who mistook the brides as mother and 10-year-old son. But now they’ve got the last laugh with a defiant update
A woman who is viciously trolled by bullies who say her partner looks like ‘a 10-year-old boy’ has had the last laugh.
Lauren Kaye received a huge amount of abuse after posting lovely snaps from her wedding day, with many people mistaking the bride for being her partner’s mum. She married her partner Hannah in an intimate wedding ceremony last summer, but people have since cruelly attacked the couple, with some even branding Lauren a ‘peadophile’ over Hannah’s youthful looks. The 31-year-old said the sinister messages are “madness” and insists 29-year-old Hannah is the love of her life.
Lauren says she has a thick skin and usually ignores the messages but they make for disturbing reading. Some of the comments left on her Instagram snaps include: “So sweet that you asked your son to walk you down the aisle, but shouldn’t he be in school?” and “Happy for you and your little boy.” The newlywed told The Sun: “I take it with a pinch of salt, I ignore it. I am a very calm person and the comments online don’t bother me. It bothers me more when we go to a supermarket and people will look over Hannah and try to talk directly to me because they assume I’m the ‘mum’.”
Hannah said she’s constantly being confused for a little boy, and has to always have her ID to hand – including for home deliveries that involve age-limit items and age-restricted films at the cinema. She said it’s enough to put her going to the shops altogether. “It does bother me being compared to a child when I’m with Lauren because of course that would make our relationship entirely inappropriate. Though I would always take being called a child over being called a paedophile,” Hannah added.
She noted that most of the comments are due to how she dresses, and critics ask her why she doesn’t change her apperance to stop the trolling. But she said it’s 2025 and having a ‘butch partner’ is a “well-known thing” so it’s something she strongly feels she shouldn’t have to hide.
Her new wife has no complaints, and quickly fell for Hannah when they matched on Tinder two years ago. Lauren then proposed in January 2024 and the couple went on to marry seven months later at a registry office in Surrey. Now, in a defiant message to their haters, the couple are expecting triplets as Lauren is pregnant through IVF they underwent in Cyprus.
As Lauren is already a mum to an 11-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, it ruled them out of IVF in the UK. Lauren said: “I can’t wait to do it again. Be with a supportive partner on my side to become a parent with.”
