People race to Lidl for middle aisle item that’s ‘best thing to own right now’

People claimed this ‘lifesaver’ device cooled their rooms down ‘in a couple of hours’

Lidl shoppers are sleeping better after investing in a middle aisle item. The latest bout of hot weather in the UK has left many reaching for a fan, and according to forecasts, temperatures are set to climb again very soon. The Met Office even claims that heatwaves are going to become more common in Britain during the summer months.

At the start of June 2025, weather forecasters predicted an “increased risk of heatwaves and heat-related impacts.” Just recently, Brits basked in temperatures that passed 30C—and more heat is on the way.

People across the UK are investing in various electric fans to keep themselves cool during the sizzling conditions. One from Lidl is getting plenty of interest. A TikTok user (@laaurendowd) shared that their Lidl purchase was a ‘lifesaver’ in the recent heatwave.

Instead of spending a small fortune on an air conditioning unit, Lauren spent £149 on “the best bargain [she’s] ever found” with the supermarket’s Silvercrest Local Air Conditioner. It is available in Lidl’s middle aisle while stocks last.

The three-in-one unit is said to cool, dehumidify, and ventilate a room. It has two fan speeds and an automatic oscillating feature that blows chilled air around the room.

The unit also has a control panel with soft-touch buttons for ease of use, a remote control with batteries and a 24-hour digital timer. It works best in rooms between 30 and 45m³, Lidl claims.

Fans of the cooling unit were quick to share just how worth it this investment was on Lauren’s TikTok video. The comments section was flooded with praise for the device.

One said: “I bought one of these from Lidl a few weeks ago, literally the best thing ever.” They added: “I’m 7 months pregnant and the heat was making me want to cry!”

Another added: “I couldn’t live without mine anymore. I wish I had brought one earlier, and it’s a real bargain, too!” A third wrote, “I bought myself one, and I am able to sleep with a blanket during the night. It’s worth it!” Someone else claimed: “This has a tube out for the hot air, and you don’t add water. This can take your bedroom from 30C to 20C!”

Another vouched: “It cooled the room down from 27C to 23C in peak heat hours. Then it cooled the bedroom from 27.5C to 18C in a couple of hours. I can’t imagine how I would have survived without it!” A fifth person said: “Bought one yesterday, a bit on the noisy side but I slept loads better in my cool bedroom so it was worth it!”

And, one more commented: “My mum got a heatstroke in 2023, so I invested in one of these units. It’s even worse for people going through menopause. If you want to soldier through the heat, then good on you, but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to stay cool and get a decent night’s rest!”

To take advantage of offers in the middle of Lidl, it’s always best to be prepared and check out what’s coming into stores ahead of time. Shoppers can browse online and then pick items up when they shop in-store. An upcoming deal includes this Black and Decker 3-in-1 Smart Air Conditioner for £199. It should become available in the discount supermarket from Thursday, July 24.
