‘People think I’m 30 but they’re way off thanks to everyday Holy Grail’

Cecilia is 16 years older than her husband but says she uses one thing every day that makes her look 20 years younger

A 50-year-old woman who says people often assume her much younger husband is older than she is has shared her secrets. Despite having grey hair and embracing her age, Cecilia Moreno is regularly mistaken for being as young as 30.

She has gone viral after shocking users with her true age, with one clip racking up over 200,000 views. Cecilia’s husband Steven is 37, but she says the age gap doesn’t affect their relationship. “Usually people are surprised to find out that I am 50 years old,” said Cecilia, a training manager

“I’ve heard a range of guesses [as to my age] – anywhere from 30s to 40s. I think when people hear the number 50, it challenges their idea of what a 50-year-old woman might be like.

“It’s not even all about aesthetic, it’s also about the energy you put out to the world. It’s funny – a lot of people think my husband is older than me.

“We know that our age gap is outside the societal norm, being that I (the woman) am older. If the man is older, people don’t seem to consider it as big of a deal.

“I’m fortunate to have a husband who values my intellect, experience and character over anything else – especially age. I think that the two of us together create a somewhat ageless couple.

“He has a long beard sprinkled with salt and pepper coloured hair, and I have been allowing my silver hair to grow in naturally for about the last year.”

Cecilia says her “holy grail” is wearing sunscreen every single day to protect her skin, alongside a healthy dose of self-confidence. Having this mindset is something she has “worked hard” at with personal work, including with a therapist, with her believing that building self-awareness and looking after yourself are the “keys to living a good life”.

Though Cecilia admits she’s had Botox, laser treatments and micro-needling on her face in the last few years, which aid in her youthful looks.

Cecilia said: “If someone asked me what my holy grail is in terms of skin care, it would be sunscreen. I wear sunscreen every day, even on the coldest day, even on the darkest day, even on a day where I would stay in my bed all day.

“Other practical tips to remaining energised and confident include working out regularly, with a focus on strength workouts. I also would recommend prioritising protein and vegetables in your daily meal planning.

“And anyone who wants to be their healthiest should also limit their alcohol intake. I have spent a lot of my life feeling depressed, unworthy and rejected.

“I am so content with the work that I have done to build my self-acceptance, self-confidence and my ability to persevere regardless of the rough spots or rough people I might encounter. It brings me to a place where I am grateful and filled with joy for the love and for the people who are in my life.

“I think that peace and sense of gratitude manifest into an energy that can be described as youthful.”

Cecilia made a video about “being my best self at 50” on TikTok.

In the clip, she spoke about how she prioritises looking after herself at any age, with viewers in the comments section stunned to learn her age. One person said: “You look so young.”

“How is this possible? Wow,” commented another user. Someone else wrote: “Girl, u don’t look older than 30. Ur gorgeous! I hope I can age like you.”

“You look younger than me at 38,” another said. Another viewer commented: “Woah… you aged so fabulously, you look so much younger.”

Cecilia added: “I see ageing as a privilege that has allowed me to grow in experience, to learn through mistakes and to find acceptance in a world where sometimes ageing women are looked at as less than.

“If I can promote that with ageing, you become more and not less, then I will feel like my message is successful.”
