Former Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced their pregnancy in July this year – but now the comedian regrets making the news public
Pete Davidson has admitted he felt guilty after announcing that he and his girlfriend are expecting their first child together. The 31-year-old Saturday Night Live alum has been in a relationship with model Elsie Hewitt since March this year.
And last month, the happy couple announced that they are expecting a baby. But now that Pete has had time to reflect on the way their news was shared, he has explained that he feels a level of guilt about it.
He has claimed that he “felt bad” after 29-year-old Elsie declared their news on social media. In a collection of video clips and photos, Elise wrote on Instagram at the time: “Welp now everyone knows we had sex.” It comes after one TV star admitted she sleeps in separate bed to partner as she fumes over pregnancy.

The images showed the model and Pete hugging affectionately, wearing spa face masks together, holding hands, and attending a hospital, where Elise was videoed lying down while a sonogram was taken. They also shared a snap of the final sonogram, giving the world a first glimpse of their child.
Over the past week, Pete appeared on a podcast where he shared his concern that making the pregnancy public may put unexpected pressure on his partner.
Pete explained to The Breakfast Club podcast, “I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s***. Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing. She’s a very private person, and she’s the one doing all the work,’ he added. ‘It’s supposed to be a beautiful experience.”
He went on to explain that Elsie – who has done some acting work as well as worked as a model – is not fully shy of being in the spotlight. However, he said he worries over their pregnancy attracting additional attention.
“She’s never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy,” he said.
Reports of Pete and Elise’s romantic relationship first emerged in March and they were spotted kissing in public soon after. They went fully official with their romance two months later by making their red carpet debut at the Blossom Ball in May.
Pete’s romantic life has drawn extensive attention over the years, with Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian and Kate Beckinsale among his famous exes.
In a candid interview with PageSix in February this year, Pete lamented the fact that he is better known for his headline-making love life rather than his work as a comedian. He said, “I’ve had some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women, and when they’ve ended, it’s been cool.
“Everyone is dating everyone, and it’s Hollywood. Look at Paul Mescal, Timmy [Chalamet], and Barry Keough. But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like five years and it made my life a living hell.”
But he added: “[It’s] embarrassing because you want people to write about your work. I was one of the youngest ever cast members on SNL and all that got pushed to the side because of who I was dating.” In December last year, the star opened up to W magazine, again explaining he wants to leave a legacy of work behind.
He told the magazine: “I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s [a] movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f****** loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
