A plane crash landed on a golf course with players hearing a loud “bang” before the aircraft fell from the sky and onto the green.

The forced landing of the Piper Cherokee occurred during a training flight. Two people on board escaped serious injury when it landed on the course close to beaches.

One of the people on board suffered minor facial injuries with both being treated at the scene of the crash by paramedics. Officials said the cause of the crash was not known at this time but that it could have been the result of possible engine trouble.

The plane crashed at the course of the Mona Vale Golf Club, in New South Wales, Australia, with damage being seen on the wing and the wheels having come off. The pair on the plane were aged in their 50s and they were later taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for further assessment.

A witness, speaking in a TikTok video, said the aircraft “just fell out of the sky.” Another added: “It was crazy, we literally just heard this noise, and then all of a sudden it went bang. And next thing you know, these guys are still playing their golf game, pretending like a plane just hasn’t fallen from the sky.”

Keanu Turnewich told ABC he had been waiting for a friend to take a swing when he noticed a “nice big shadow came over the top.” He continued: “I thought, ‘It’s a big bird’ and looked up and there was an airplane close enough I could have thrown a club up and hit it.

“It was dead silence. About 30 seconds later, we had a big crunching sound…then all the ambulances and everything started coming past and sirens for 20, 30 minutes. By the time we got back up around, there was an airplane on the golf course.”

Another witness who was at Kitcher Park When the plane came down told ABC: “I was talking to another lady and we just saw the plane come up from the south, and then head back down to the south, and then come back up to the north and dip its wings.

“”I’m a lifesaver, I’m in the area, I don’t know if I have to go and help, I thought there were mass casualties.”

Data from Flight Tracker showed the aircraft took off from Shellharbour, close to Wollongong, on Sunday afternoon (local time) and then it made a stop in Camden before it continued to fly north. Officials are now gathering information about the landing, although it is unclear whether it would carry out a formal investigation.
