A man was on a flight when he realised a fellow passenger was being incredibly rude– but he didn’t want to say anything about the traveller for one very good reason
A plane passenger has shared his bemusement over a rude fellow traveller’s odd behaviour, which he didn’t challenge for one very particular reason.
The man took to Twitter/X, posting a photo of the passenger on his flight who had stretched his right arm over the top of his seat in a bid to get comfy, blocking the screen behind him.
The tweet quickly racked up thousands of likes and comments, with users questioning why he didn’t call out the man’s blunder. John Kennedy, the man who posted the tweet, explained that he chose not to intervene as he found the situation more entertaining than any in-flight entertainment provided during his journey.
He said in a follow-up tweet: “Everyone keeps telling me to confront him as if this was an issue for me. It was more entertaining than anything delta offered to watch. ‘Sir can you move your hand I was watching a full episode of Key and Peele’.”
Social media users flooded the post with various cheeky suggestions on how to handle the situation, ranging from dunking the man’s hand into a cup of coffee to gently stroking his fingers – a tactic one user claimed “works every time.”
Passengers were left scratching their heads over a picture showing the man’s awkward arm angle, with one commenter stating: “I’ve been starting at this for five minutes and I can’t figure out the angle of this man’s arm.”
Discussions erupted on what to do about seat-back screen blockers, suggesting direct communication. A fellow passenger proposed: “I’d probably just tap on his hand and he’d realize what he’s doing. Even though he’s watching a screen in the back of another chair, he’s probably not even thinking about the one on the back of his own chair.”
Some shared quirky fixes they’ve tried, like faking a sneeze to spray water. As one detailed: “Someone did this to me once and I made a sneezing sound and sprayed water from my loc water bottle on their hand.”
Another endorsed the fake sneeze tactic: “Make a huge sneezing sound and flick some water on his hand.” And yet another reminded us that a simple conversation could be enough: “He’s almost certainly doing it absentmindedly and will stop and apologise profusely if you just told him. It’s really no big deal.”
