Devon and Cornwall Police said its “incident response unit” is at the scene in West Hoe, Plymouth, and the force has warned people to stay away from the area tonight
Members of the public have been warned to “stay away” from part of Plymouth tonight due to a huge police operation.
Photos shared on social media show several emergency service vehicles swarm on part of West Hoe in the city. It is believed both police and paramedics are at the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police’s force incident manager said tonight: “We are dealing with a serious assault at the scene. Members of the public are being asked to stay away. Officers remain at the scene.”
A member of staff at a pub in the area described chaotic scenes to PlymouthLive. They said there’s a lot of police “just down the road” from the boozer, which remains open.
The ambulance service’s “incident response unit” is also at the scene, it is understood.
