Wichita: Doorbell video footage shows woman being apparently abducted
Police have issued a major update after a woman appeared to have been kidnapped outside her home, with the incident caught on doorbell camera.
The woman was seen being grabbed by a man outside the property in Wichita, Kansas, at about 2am on Sunday. A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident with officers stating it was related to alleged domestic violence.
Doorbell footage showed the 35-year-old woman screaming as she was grabbed from behind. She appeared to be wearing a black top and shorts when she reached the front doorbell before being overpowered by the man.

The woman was then dragged away from the area covered by the doorbell footage. The Wichita Police Department (WPD) said on Tuesday the woman was “located safely.”
“At this stage of the investigation, we believe this incident is a case of domestic violence between the female and her boyfriend,” police said. “The female does not have any significant injuries.”
The police added: “As we stressed this morning, we do not have any reason to believe there is ongoing danger to the general public.” A spokesperson for the force said a an arrest had been made in the case.
“This evening around 7pm officers with the Domestic Intervention and Violence Reduction team (DIVRT) located and arrested a 22-year-old male in relation to the doorbell surveillance case,” police added. “The male has been booked into Sedgwick County Jail for charges of aggravated battery strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery, and criminal restraint.
“The facts of this case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for formal charging consideration.” Before the woman was found and her boyfriend was arrested, police had offered a $2,000 (£1,496) reward.
The WPD said in a statement: “We want to thank the public for sharing the video and still images that generated additional attention about this incident. We do believe it led the female to call us, saying she was the person we were looking for.”
The apparent abduction has concerned neighbours and led to them questioning incidents in the past. Resident Angelica Verduzco told local outlet KAKE: “It’s dangerous. That’s the truth. But, always, I believe there have always been kidnappings.”
