Emergency services swarmed a restaurant after several customers fell unwell this evening.

Police were called to a Greater Manchester restaurant on Northenden Road, Sale, on September 6 after several diners fell ill.

The incident occurred around lunchtime, with customers reportedly treated inside an establishment after becoming unwell. According to Greater Manchester Police, those affected experienced ‘minor reactions’, although one diner is believed to have been more seriously impacted.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with police spending several hours managing the scene. Images shared on social media showed a significant response from emergency services.

Northenden Road was temporarily closed as police, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene. A gas leak was quickly ruled out by investigators.

Reports suggest that at least eight people fell ill, with one individual more seriously affected than the others. By Saturday evening, Greater Manchester Police had left the scene, but officials from Trafford Council and the Health and Safety Executive remained in attendance, reports the Manchester Evening News.

A representative for GMP stated: “At around 12.40pm today (6 September), we received a report of people becoming unwell at a restaurant on Northenden Road, Sale. Emergency services quickly attended and several people were treated at the scene for minor reactions. Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.”

The restaurant in question has not been named by police however Manchester Evening News understands the incident is related to food eaten at Dosa Kingss the South Indian street kitchen and bar.

On their social media pages the restaurant wrote a short statement just two hours ago which read: “Dear valued customers, due to unforseen circumstance, we are temporarily closed. We sincerely apologise for any inconvince this may cause an truly appreciate your understanding and support. We look forward to sereving you again.” It is not yet known if this is related to the incident earlier today.

Dosa Kingss has been approached by The Mirror for comment.
