A man has been charged for the alleged murder of a pregnant woman and her partner, who was found decapitated.

Athena Georgopoulos, 39, was five months pregnant when she was killed alongside her 50-year-old partner Andrew Gunn inside their home in Melbourne, Australia, according to police.

Terrified neighbours heard screams coming from inside the home. Police were called to the scene and discovered the decapitated body of Gunn beside the pregnant mum. It comes as a mum ‘murdered and cut up her son into three pieces’ with help from his wife.

Several hours later, police arrested Ross Judd, 34, at a train station around 7km from the scene. He appeared in court on Wednesday, charged with two counts of murder.

Officers also found graffiti on the wall outside the property, which they believe could be linked to the horrific murders inside. Some of the chilling messages on the wall included “Enough is Enough”, “Betrayal” and “Karma”. They were sprayed on the walls in bright yellow, green, and black spray paint. Graffiti was also found on the husband and wife’s fence.

Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said: “Police were called at about 9.20pm in relation to a welfare check at the address based on some yelling that was heard from the property.

“A second call was then made that suggested it was perhaps more urgent than the first call and police arrived minutes later, and obviously they found the male and female inside the premises deceased.

“The person that we took into custody was in the company of two large dogs, I think that would look fairly obvious to people who may have been in the area.”

Athena’s heartbroken family said the 39-year-old was excited about her pregnancy as she didn’t believe she would have children.

“She was so looking forward to having a baby, because she was 39 [and] she never thought she could have one,” Patty Dilveridis said.

Victoria Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders – but are keen to determine if the graffiti is linked to the case.

A spokesperson said: “Police are aware of graffiti on the property in Mount Waverley where the bodies of two people were located last night.

“Homicide Squad detectives will work to determine if the graffiti is relevant to the murder investigation.”
