Chris Wood was denied a goal in Nottingham Forest’s match with Tottenham after a VAR check which utilised the Premier League’s new semi-automated offside technology
The Premier League have confirmed that semi-automated offside technology determined a goal from Chris Wood should not stand in Monday night’s meeting between Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.
Forest were already a goal to the good when Wood thought he had added a second. But while the goal was originally given in-play, VAR overruled the decision after watching the incident back.
The Premier League confirmed the reasons for the overruled, saying: “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Wood was in an offside position and recommended that the goal was disallowed.”
