Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was in the thick of the action in his side’s clash with Fulham, as the Scot was sent off just 17 minutes into the match for bringing down Harry Wilson

Andy Robertson was sent off just 17 minutes into Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Fulham, having earlier been on the receiving end of a challenge which required a VAR check.

Worse was then to follow for the Scot, who brought down Harry Wilson as the Welsh international raced towards goal, with referee Tony Harrington issuing a straight red card. The decision was checked for both offside whether or not Robertson was the last Liverpool defender as Virgil van Dijk was in close proximity, but the red card decision stood.

The Premier League said in another Match Centre statement: “The referee issued a red card to Robertson for a foul on Wilson which denied a goal scoring opportunity. VAR checked to confirm the red card and that Wilson was in an onside position.”
