Primark brings back ‘lush’ £12 bag ‘just like’ £380 designer version

Primark shoppers have compared the £12 bag to one by designer brand Dragon Diffusion – but there’s a huge price difference

Primark is stocking a bag that bears a striking resemblance to a pricier alternative. Known for its affordable fashion and homeware, the high street giant may have just introduced a new crowd-pleaser.

The retailer’s new faux leather shopper bag looks similar to a style by brand Dragon Diffusion, but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £12, while the Dragon Diffusion Santa Croce Tote Bag is priced at £380 online at Flannels.

The bags are very similar, with a weaved-finish and a shopper bag-style, as well as braided top handles and an open top. The two also feature similar colouring, with an almost identical mix of burgundy, blacks and browns.

However, the two are different too. The Dragon Diffusion bag is bigger and is made with 100% leather, while Primark’s version is faux leather.

TikTok user @fayes.edit shared a clip showcasing the high street retailer’s version of the bag in store. The caption read: “Dragon Diffusion vibes for under £20 oh go on then, loved this bag in @Primark so I grabbed one for trips to the farmers market.”

Text over the video said: “pov: you’ve found the perfect bag for spring.” Beneath the post, one person commented: “Everything is so beautiful.”

According to one shopper, Primark stocked a similar bag last year too. They wrote: “I bought one last year, love it.” Faye replied: “Is it the same as last years? I couldn’t find that bag last summer so grabbed one of these.”

Another TikTok user @lozlifee also showcased the bag in a popular video. Text over her clip read: “It’s giving Dragon Diffusion on a budget.”

The caption said: “Okurrr @Primark coming in with the [alternatives] For £12 these were lush! Reminded me of a little something more expensive.”

The Primark bag retails for £12, while the Dragon Diffusion Santa Croce Tote Bag comes in at £380 online at Flannels. This means shoppers could save around £368 by opting for the bargain version.

Customers can grab the Primark bag in stores now. The bag is not currently listed on the Primark website, but you can check for updates here.
