Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell had an ongoing ‘affair’ with Prince Andrew, a new royal book has claimed. The bombshell biography explores the disgraced duke’s alleged closeness with the Epstein’s girlfriend
The friendship between convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and Prince Andrew has long been the subject of scrutiny – and now a shocking new book claims they were lovers.
According to renowned historian Andrew Lownie’s new biography, ‘Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York’, the alleged affair was off and on again over the course of many years.
It was Andrew’s connection to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who he met through Ghislaine Maxwell, that eventually caused him to step back as working royal.
After a ‘car crash’ interview with Newsnight about his friendship with disgraced financier Epstein in 2019, he swiftly stepped back from representing the crown officially.

Andrew denied being a close friend of Maxwell – Epstein’s longtime girlfriend – in US court documents. But the new book alleges that the pair were “good friends” and “over the years had been occasional lovers”. The convicted socialite is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.
Epstein and Maxwell were also both guests at Andrew’s royal residences on more than one occasion, Lownie claims.
Andrew has previously said he met Ghislaine in Oxford in 1980s and the new book claims that “Andrew resumed his on-off affair with Ghislaine Maxwell” in May 1999, a few months after his 40th birthday.
This isn’t the first time that it has been alleged that Ghislaine and Andrew were more than friends. A former policeman, Paul Page, said in 2022 that he and his colleagues who worked at the palace suspected the pair shared an “intimate relationship”.
“From the way she was allowed to enter and exit the palace at will, we suspected that she may have had an intimate relationship with Prince Andrew,” he told ITV.
“She was allowed to enter and exit the Palace night and day at will,” Page claimed, “Myself and my other colleagues formed the opinion they were in some sort of relationship.”
Some quotes used in the new royal book come from Jeffrey Epstein himself. In 2007, the paedo financier claimed that he and Andrew had some of the same sexual partners and that Andrew was his “closest friend in the world”.
“We are very similar. We are both serial sex addicts. He’s the only person I have met who is more obsessed with p***y than me. We have shared the same women.
“From the reports I’ve got back from them he’s the most perverted animal in the bedroom. He likes to engage in stuff that’s even kinky to me – and I’m the king of kink!”
Since her conviction, Maxwell has said that she considered Andrew to be a “dear friend” and was reported to be “shaken” to learn that Andrew’s legal team had claimed they were never close.
“I feel so bad for him,” Maxwell said, adding: “I accept that this friendship could not survive my conviction. He is paying such a price for the association. I consider him a dear friend. I care about him.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
