It has been revealed that Prince William was in Whitehall today for a meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters – but it is not known who he was meeting or what was discussed
Prince William has held a meeting at a top government HQ in London that’s remaining mysteriously private.
The Prince of Wales, the future head of the armed forces held talks at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in London’s Whitehall, in an official engagement – but no media were present. Kensington Palace declined to comment on the subject of the meeting or say who was present.
It comes after earlier this week, when William also held a private meeting with the Prime Minister Keir Starmer. It is royal tradition that the heir to the throne has an annual meeting with British PM. However, the meeting was strictly private with anything discussed is reamining a closely-guarded secret.
William was a Lieutenant in the Household Cavalry’s Blues and Royals before spending three years as an RAF and Rescue pilot, and then joining emergency missions as a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
As a senior member of the Royal Family, William is affiliated to a number of military regiments from all three branches of the armed forces including as Royal Colonel of the Welsh Guards. As first in line to the throne, the prince carries out his own charitable projects, but also undertakes official duties in support of his father, the King, who is still undergoing treatment for cancer.
As William focused on his engagement in London, his wife the Princess of Wales was on a solo visit to South Wales, meeting youngsters at the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice. Kate, who confirmed earlier this month she is in remission from cancer, has become patron of the hospice as she continues her gradual return to public duties.
Her previously unannounced visit today comes as it is revealed that Kate is the new patron of the hospice – a role once held by both Diana, during the fundraising stage of the charity, as well as King Charles from 2001. At the hospice, Kate spent time with youngsters receiving care as well as their families and also meet bereaved families.
The princess, who wore a grey dress, joined a music therapy session with Kensington Palace arranging for musical instruments to be provided to the hospice to be used in musical therapy sessions in the future. The aim of the hospice is to make sure that no family should have to live their child’s short life alone and it provides support through life, death and beyond.
Kate’s trip to Wales today comes amid a busy week for the princess as she gradually returns to duties following her chemotherapy treatment and the news earlier this month that she is in remission from cancer. On Monday, she joined William for a service in London to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, where she had a reunion with two Holocaust survivors she got to know during a photography project five years ago.
The flurry of royal engagements this week is not thought to indicate that the princess is fully back to work but continuing her gradual resumption of official duties.
