Princess Eugenie is known for giving little away about her private life – but she has now opened up on the ‘most special, mind-blowing experience’ for her family
Princess Eugenie has opened up on the “most special, mind-blowing experience” of her life after becoming a mum.
While she normally holds back about giving away too much about her private life Eugenie did give an insight into being a parent at a charity event. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter is married to Jack Brooksbank and they have two sons August, three, and Ernest, one. And during an interview for The Anti-Slavery Collective, which she co-founded with Julia de Boinville in 2017, she told how her children “make my world go around”.
Reflecting on modern slavery and being a parent she said: “Becoming a parent is the most special, mind-blowing experience of a person’s life. My children make my world go around. It’s made me hungrier to do the work. I want to educate my children and all young people about being vulnerable, sensitive, and empathetic towards each other. I don’t want anyone to reach the age of 21 having not heard about modern slavery, like I did.”
Previously she told HELLO! how having children has made her think more about the environment. “Since August came into my life, it’s positively impacted my desire to do more. Priorities change when you have children, you want to do everything you can for them – and for your grandchildren. August is only two but I hope that what I’m doing will seep through to him and that one day he takes it on, too.”
It was back on February 9, 2021, that Eugenie and Jack decided to announce the birth of son August in their own way. Traditionally, new royal parents introduce their babies to the world on the steps outside the hospital, posing for photos and the world’s media. But the royal couple chose to tell the world they had become a family of three by a more modern means, uploading a beautiful black and white photo of their first-born on Instagram, complete with three blue heart emojis.
Eugenie and Jack’s son August Philip Hawke, nicknamed Augie, was born just before 9am at The Portland Hospital in London’s West End, weighing 8lbs 1oz. The cute image – posted just 10 hours after Eugenie gave birth – showed both mum and dad holding their baby boy’s hand, and quickly attracted thousands of likes.
The couple repeated their approach last year when they took to social media once more to announce the birth of their second child, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, who was born on May 30 weighing 7lb 1oz. The adorable image showed August resting his hand on Ernest’s head.
