An ex-inmate is facing life in jail after he murdered a prison officer who discovered he was having an affair with a corrupt female prisoner officer when he found a phone in his cell.
Elias Morgan tracked down Lenny Scott after being released from prison and shot the father of three six times as he was leaving the gym in Skelmersdale, on February 8, last year before fleeing the scene on an electric bike. Mr Scott had been working at HMP Altcourse when Morgan, 35, was serving time.
A nine-week trial at Preston Crown Court heard Morgan planned the killing after 33-year-old Mr Scott confiscated a phone found in his cell exposing Morgan’s illegal relationship with a female prison officer back in 2020.
Today, Morgan will hear the minimum time a judge says he will serve before he can be considered for parole.
