Andrey Lugovoy suggets President Zelenskyy could ‘die’
A hardline pro-Putin MP and suspected murderer appeared on Russian TV and made a chilling threat that Volodymyr Zelensky will die in suspicious circumstances after going into exile in London.
The news show, aired on the state-run Russia 1 broadcaster controlled by Vladimir Putin, showed the Kremlin’s propagandists declare Elon Musk was right in predicting the Ukrainian leader would go abroad. The staunch Putin supporter made the eerie comments after sensing victory for Russia in the war following the US’ decision to halt military aid to Kyiv.
In an chilling discussion with the host, hardline Russian MP Andrey Lugovoy – who is himself wanted to face trial for the murder of a Putin foe in London – suggested Zelensky would face a sinister death if he were to relocate to the UK. He and top Putin TV cheerleader Vladimir Solovyov discussed Zelensky’s potential move.
Lugovoy said: “What about Zelensky? He took the whole country [Ukraine] hostage, of course. And rightly so, today, Elon Musk performed perfectly, [offering] him a suitcase, a railway station and a neutral country. Although he will, of course, go to London.”
Solovyov agreed Zelensky would be forced out and go to live in London, but added: “Not for long.” Lugovoy, accused by Scotland Yard of using lethal weapons-grade polonium-210 to kill Putin foe Alexander Litvinenko, 44, in London, said: “It’s not a very safe country.”
Solovyov replied: “Not at all. Not safe at all. He’ll die in the bathroom on his tie? Isn’t that what usually happens there to people who suddenly realise something and then try to repent? So London is definitely not the country for those people. Absolutely not.
“And then, can you imagine how many secrets Zelensky knows? I mean, he’s probably got a little notebook that says which European leaders got how much, when and how.” Lugovoy said: “That’s what we’re talking about. Either the CIA or MI6 will destroy him first.” Solovyov replied: “Well, how can you survive with someone like that? Not much of a chance.”
Putin refused to extradite Lugovoy to London to face trial for murder. The charges remain live that he spiked the tea of former Russian secret service colleague Litvinenko with radioactive poison when they met in London in 2006.
