Radiator fan boosts heat and shopper says they ‘wish they’d bought one a long time ago’

Many shoppers are looking for alternative ways to keep warm this winter, without putting the heating on. For those who haven’t yet considered a portable radiator fan, there’s one available from Yimbly and shoppers have described it as ‘amazing’. Yimbly, is an online marketplace owned by the Mirror’s parent company Reach Plc.

The SmartAir BOOST XL Radiator Fan from Yimbly is currently priced at £69.99. According to the brand, this ‘energy-efficient system’ improves the circulation of warm air, heating up living spaces faster.

The brand says the radiator fan ‘costs less than a penny to run for an hour’, and it kicks in and switches off when it senses the radiator’s surface at 33 degrees Celsius. With the option to run cord or cordless, and no installation required, shoppers are praising the fan’s ability to blow heat over the top of furniture, keeping the room toasty no matter the room’s layout.

The 2.4kg product features an easy-read LED digital display, which cycles between high and low fan speeds and shows the battery percentage and surface temperature of the radiator. The auto shut-off safety system ensures the radiator will turn itself off until the radiator cools down to at least 65 degrees Celsius, giving buyers peace of mind.

Alternatively, savvy shoppers could look at Amazon’s Plug in Heater, 1200W Fan Heaters for Home 2 Mode PTC Ceramic Heaters, currently priced at £29.99 from £59.99, saving shoppers a hefty 50%. With its portable, user-friendly and lightweight design, shoppers can just move the product to where they need heat the most – and it can even be used under a desk.

Shoppers could also check out Debenhams’ Valiant Radiator Heat Boosting Fan – Rechargeable and Portable with Triple Blade Air Circulation, currently priced at £49.99. This product has a powerful triple fan design, three fan speeds and a rechargeable cordless 5200mAh battery.

Shoppers at Yimbly were impressed with the SmartAir BOOST XL Radiator Fan’s ability to boost a room’s heat circulation, with one reviewer saying: “This is amazing, I have my sofa against the radiator in my lounge which blocks out most of the heat. The fan now directs the heat over the top of my sofa and I have a warm room again. I wish I had bought one a long time ago.”

Another review, on the product’s Amazon page, said: “Absolutely awesome. I had two smaller versions last year and they helped heat the house quicker and cheaper, and now with this larger version in the main room, it will be out of this world and last a long time when using the built-in batteries. Extremely quiet in operation and easy to use and very portable, a great must-buy for any home, would highly recommend.”

A third, also from Amazon, added: “Highly recommend, this gadget will save you money on your home heating costs.”

Not all shoppers felt the same however. One Yimbly shopper felt the fan speed was noisy, but added it wasn’t an issue as the radiator fan heated the room quickly.

They said: “This radiator fan increases the flow rate through the radiator and projects it into the room, hence heating the room faster. Its automatic start when the radiator becomes hot is brilliant as I don’t need to turn it on after waiting a while. It’s a bit noisy even at the slow speed, but as I switch it off once the room is warm, it doesn’t matter. Since it also has a rechargeable battery, I can move it easily to any room. It’s a very good device and the price was the lowest I’ve seen for the large six fan model. The delivery was also quick.”

Another shopper, from the product’s Amazon page, added: “These are a Godsend, warm your room up very quickly. Very efficient and looks good to boost. Only downside, a little noisy at first but your room heats up very fast so it’s acceptable.”

The SmartAir BOOST XL Radiator Fan can be found at Yimbly.
