Influencers Olivia Neill and Flossie Clegg were once practically inseparable, but fans have noticed a seemingly frosty distance between the pair in recent times. Now a mutual pal has shed light on what happened
Not all that long ago, YouTube stars Olivia Neill and Flossie Clegg were the very ideal to strive for in terms of Gen Z bestie goals. Now the real reason behind their supposedly bitter fallout has now been revealed.
The influencers enjoyed enormous popularity as a duo, rising to the top of their game together as loyal fans followed their shared journey every step of the way.
After splitting from their boyfriends at around the same same time, the two then 19-year-olds made the big move to London together in 2020, where they shared a flat together. And fans loved getting candid glimpses of their newly single girl lifestyle, chronicled in a series of YouTube vlogs.
From make-up tutorials to cosy takeaway nights in, Olivia, 23, and Flossie, 24, appeared to be living their very best lives, sticking by each other through thick and thin. Even when Olivia came under fire for attending a lockdown party in 2021, Flossie was on hand to support her, and the pair continued to create content after the backlash.
But it wasn’t long before their once tightly intertwined lives diverged, with Olivia reuniting with her ex from home in Belfast, John Fletcher. Olivia moved out of the by then famous bachelorette pad she’d shared with Flossie, intending to move back to Northern Ireland and buy a house there.
Ultimately however Olivia and John parted ways, and Olivia made a home for herself elsewhere in London – but this time, not with Flossie.
Of course, it’s perfectly normal that even the closest of friends would eventually want to branch out and live separately, especially after forging such lucrative careers. So although fans were saddened, alarm bells weren’t ringing yet.
But then, the gossip mill went into full force after Flossie lauched her Slazenger Vintage collection, in collaboration with Sports Direct. While many of her fashionable influencer pals rushed to publicly congratulate her, Olivia remained notably quiet, and for those who’d seen the pair back in their double act days, her silence was deafening.
A video shared via Flossie’s YouTube channel threw further fuel on the fire. The clip, which showed Flossie’s glam Slazenger launch party in full swing, featured various friends, but Olivia was nowhere to be seen. But what happened between the pair to sour what had once been such a closeknit bond? According to one source, it all goes back to a rift over a shared crush.
Speaking recently with the Mail Online, a mutual friend divulged: “They cannot be in the same room together any more, which is crazy. Back in the day, you wouldn’t have got one without the other and they were best friends. Social media is a cut-throat industry and it’s really hard to find people you can trust, but Flossie and Olivia entered the scene together and had each other’s backs.
“But that being said, things were already getting tense between them for months. Olivia was itching to climb the ladder. She’d started making a new set of friends in London, which meant leaving Flossie behind. So when the boy came into it, that was the final straw.”
Nowadays, Olivia can be seen knocking about with new bestie Ruby Lyn, a dark haired YouTuber with more than a passing resemblance to Flossie. Whether Olivia and Flossie will ever patch up their differences remains to be seen, but fans haven’t given up hope just yet.
One comment on Olivia’s TikTok said: “I miss your friendship with Flossie so bad, nothing hits the same.” “[Ruby] will never be Flossie,” another penned.
