Police in Blackwood near Robertstown, Ireland, have started an investigation after a 16-year-old boy was involved in a hit and run collision, and died in the tragedy
A teenager was killed in a hit-and-run road collision in the early hours of this morning.
The 16-year-old boy was walking on the R403 in Blackwood near Robertstown, Co Kildare, at around 12.30am when he was hit by a vehicle, which failed to remain at the scene. The boy was fatally injured in the accident.
His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital. The R403 has been closed between Graiges Cross and Dagwelds Cross as forensic examinations of the scene continue.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Blackwood and Robertstown at the time of the collision and who may have camera footage are asked to contact gardai.
