Rod Stewart, 80, forced to cancel another gig hours before show on ‘doctors orders’

By staff5 June 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Sir Rod Stewart has revealed he’s been forced to cancel a performance in Las Vegas after receiving medical advice due to contracting the flu

Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled another performance just hours before he was due to appear on stage. The musician was due to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday night, but told fans he was still unwell, meaning he had to cancel the performance.

It comes less than a week after Sir Rod, 80, had been forced to reschedule a previous show due to ill health. Taking to Instagram, the Maggie May rocker told fans: “I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace.

“My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding. – Rod,” as he signed off with a broken heart emoji. Currently, it remains unclear if Sir Rod is rescheduling the concert.

Fans rushed to offer their support and well wishes, with one writing: “Take care, Sir Roderick and have a great recovery! I’m sending you positive vibes.” A second added: “Get well soon, Rod. I hope to see you in Latin America. It is my father’s dream.”

“Feel better! My mom is flying from Toronto to California for June 15 in Paso,” said a third. A fourth went on to pen: “Take all the time your doctor advises you to do to recuperate, your health comes first.” Meanwhile, one fan who was due to attend wrote: “Oh gosh we flew all the way to Vegas to see you! I will try and catch you in Raleigh, feel better Rod.”

Lizzie Cundy added: “Wishing you well.” The hitmaker was recently put on vocal rest while on his massive One Last Time Tour. He’s due to perform at the coveted Legends Slot at Glastonbury Festival on June 29. He also revealed he’s planning a mini reunion with his band, Faces.

Rolling Stones icon Ronnie Wood will be heading to Worthy Farm in Somerset to join him on stage. Speaking on The Peter Crouch podcast, when asked if he’s in touch with The Stones or Sir Elton John, he responded: “Not really, but Woody and I do a lot just recently because we are going to do Glastonbury together.”

When asked why they had lost touch, Sir Rod said it was because both he and Sir Elton had quit drinking alcohol. Opening up on the Soccer A-Z podcast, he said: “I’m meeting up with the last two members of the Faces tomorrow, and we’re working on a documentary, because next year will be our 50th anniversary, or 60s.

“I don’t know what it is, but when the faces were together, and we’re trying to put out an album. So I shall be with Mr. Woods and Mr. Jones.”

At the time of announcing his Glastonbury performance, he said he was “proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury.” But Sir Rod recently gave fans a health update in the lead-up to his big performance. Speaking on the Sidetracked with Annie [Mac] and Nick [Grimshaw], he said: “I couldn’t be better. I’m enjoying my life, I’ve got good health so far and a happy family.”

This, however, isn’t the first time Sir Rod has been forced to cancel shows due to ill health. Last summer, he was forced to cancel a handful of gigs, including his milestone 200th Las Vegas residency show. His management team said they “regretted to announce” that the shows had to be called off after he contracted a summer strain of COVID-19.

He had been scheduled to deliver his The Hits show at the Colosseum and bring the performances to a close after 13 years. He told fans: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”
