Loose Women panellist Penny Lancaster previously opened up about her husband’s extravagant eating habits in an episode of BBC Celebrity MasterChef
Sir Rod Stewart makes the same extravagant request every day at dinnertime – and it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted. The 79-year-old’s eating habits were revealed by his ex-supermodel wife Penny Lancaster, who featured on BBC Celebrity MasterChef in 2021.
During the show, she explained that Rod is accustomed to eating luxurious foods on a daily basis and even had a chef 20 years ago when they first met. “When I first met Rod about 20 years ago he had a chef, so there wasn’t much need for me in the kitchen, thank God,” the Loose Women panellist said, according to The Scottish Sun.
“Rod kind of likes the fine dining every evening, three-course dinners, candles, and it’s kind of out of my league, so I do the kids’ cooking but otherwise, not really au fait.” Albeit over-the-top, nutritionist Helen Bell, at Help & Advice, said that eating this way may have some benefits.
Though, she acknowledged that it isn’t exactly a ‘black-and-white’ picture. Speaking exclusively with The Mirror, she said: “I’d say that the healthiness of a three-course meal really depends on the choices made for each course.
“I’ve seen people enjoy a starter of a light salad, a main course with lean protein, and a dessert like fresh fruit, which can be quite balanced. However, if each course is rich and heavy, it might not be the healthiest option on a regular basis.
“It’s not a black-and-white issue because the overall nutritional content of the meal matters more than the number of courses.” Helen explained that four crucial factors can impact the healthiness of a three-course meal.
Portion control, individual dietary needs, ingredient choice and cooking methods are among them, with grilled and steamed dishes far healthier than fried ones. The expert even claimed that weight loss is possible while eating daily three courses too, but these should be planned thoughtfully.

She continued: “Weight loss is possible while enjoying three-course dinners, provided the meals are thoughtfully planned. I’ve seen success when people focus on calorie control and nutrient density.
“For example, opting for broth-based soups, lean proteins, and fruit-based desserts can keep the calorie count in check… Planning and preparation are vital to maintaining a healthy diet while enjoying gourmet meals.
“I’d also suggest experimenting with different herbs and spices to add flavour without extra calories. This can make meals exciting without compromising health.”
Today, Sir Rod Stewart was confirmed for the coveted ‘Legends’ slot at next year’s Glastonbury Festival. The 79-year-old’s performance will mark his first at the Somerset farm since 2002, in which he headlined the famous Pyramid Stage.
In an statement, he said: “I’m proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June.” Glastonbury’s spokespeople also added: “We’re excited to announce that Sir Rod Stewart will play the Sunday teatime legend slot at Glastonbury 2025.”
