Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has taken to social media to confirm to fans that he is okay after a terrifying injury scare in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool
Rodrigo Bentancur provided his fans with an anxiously awaited health update via social media following a grim injury sustained during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup encounter with Liverpool. The Uruguay international collapsed in the eighth minute of the Spurs’ semi-final bout, causing consternation among fans from both sides.
While attacking a corner for Tottenham, Bentancur attempted to head the ball but missed. Teammate Pedro Porro reacted promptly, noticing that Bentancur didn’t rise after hitting the turf, and gestured frantically for medical help as concern etched on their faces.
The match witnessed a significant pause as medics attended to Bentancur amidst the tense atmosphere. Sky Sports, maintaining a respectful stance due to the severity of the situation, chose not to broadcast replays of the distressing event.

In the immediate aftermath of his injury, Bentancur was given oxygen while being treated on the pitch for approximately ten minutes before being stretchered off, with Brennan Johnson introduced as the substitute by coach Ange Postecoglou. Soon after, Spurs released a reassurance: “We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks.”
In a reassuring update, Bentancur took to social media to ease fan concerns after his on-pitch scare. Posting on Instagram in the wee hours of Thursday morning, Bentancur shared a story, happily telling fans “All good, guys! ” and showing appreciation with “Thank you for the messages! ! ! Alongside the positive update, he included a photo of himself giving a thumbs up and grinning, indicating that he was recovering well after the alarming incident. Despite missing out on the match, Ange Postecoglou’s team secured a narrow 1-0 win over Liverpool, with Lucas Bergvall netting the decisive goal.
