Ruben Amorim makes alarming admission about shaky Man Utd team – ‘I have that feeling’

By staff27 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Manchester United are still struggling to find consistency under Ruben Amorim’s management ahead of their trip to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday

Ruben Amorim has admitted he still never knows which version of his Manchester United team will turn up for games. But the United boss said he no longer travels to games dreading them like he did last season, because he knew beforehand his players were not able to compete with their opponents.

United travel to Brentford on Saturday with Amorim aiming to put together back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since taking charge nearly a year ago.

It is a damning statistic for Amorim and underlines the unpredictable nature of his players, with the 40-year-old head coach admitting even he does not know what to expect when they play. “It’s normal that the fans don’t know what’s going to happen in the next game,” said Amorim.

“To be honest, I have an idea, but I don’t know how it’s going to be and I’m the manager of the team. The best way of dealing with that is approaching every game like it’s the last one. I always have the feeling that we can win the next game and we can be dominant. I have that feeling now. It’s in our hands to change things.

“What I’m saying is that sometimes in the small things, in that urgency, if you compare the way we started against Chelsea, to the way we started against City, it’s completely different. So in that, I’m not certain all the time what’s going to happen and I’m really clear on that with you and with the players, but the feeling is completely different.

“I look at my team and I’m going to play against City, Arsenal and I’m feeling that we can score goals, we can be dominant, we can control the game in certain moments, so it’s a completely different feeling from last year. I know it’s going to be tough, but it’s more excitement than fear, this year. But it’s about the way we’re going to do the warm-up and the preparation.

“If we’re excited to go to the game like we are sometimes when we are at the limit and if we always have that feeling, I think it’s going to be massive for us. So it’s massive to win this game.”

Bryan Mbeumo returns to his former club for the first time since leaving for United in a £71million deal, with Amorim claiming the forward can help change the negative mentality among his players.

Mbeumo, who has scored twice already for United, was voted their player of the month for August and Amorim said: “If you look at Bryan in that moment when we’re struggling, you feel a different guy compared to the rest of the team.

“You have to understand that some of the guys have been here for a while and that feeling is still here and for that we need to win games.”
