Ruben Amorim sack stance clearer as Man Utd’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe gets very honest on Glazers

By staff9 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made it clear that he will not be swayed by the Glazer family when it comes to the future of head coach Ruben Amorim

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has insisted the Glazers will not interfere with any decision regarding head coach Ruben Amorim’s future. The United head coach has come under mounting pressure this season following a sluggish start to the new Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils are currently in 10th position in the league, having collected 10 points from their opening seven league fixtures. A 2-0 victory over Sunderland in their most recent match has temporarily dulled speculation surrounding the manager’s position, though another poor run of form is expected to reignite the debate.

Ratcliffe will play a pivotal role in determining Amorim’s fate.

Whilst he acknowledges the disappointment felt by certain supporters, the co-owner has suggested he is willing to afford the manager additional time.

“The press, sometimes I don’t understand,” Ratcliffe told The Business Podcast.

“They want overnight success. They think it’s a light switch.

“You know, you flick a switch and it’s all going to be roses tomorrow. You can’t run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week.”

Discussing his relationship with fellow co-owners, the Glazer family, Ratcliffe revealed they were comfortable allowing him to take control.

When questioned about what he would do if they instructed him to dismiss Amorim, he simply responded: “It’s not going to happen.”

Amorim penned a three-year contract at Old Trafford in November last year. Ratcliffe has signalled that he is prepared to grant him time to reverse the club’s fortunes.

“He has not had the best of seasons,” he said.

“Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That’s where I would be.”

United return to Premier League action after the international break when they travel to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, October 19 (4.30pm kick-off).
