Finding the perfect pair of trainers is crucial for enhancing your running performance, but it’s equally important to protect and support your feet, calves, and legs. Compression socks, which have long been favoured by travellers on long-haul flights due to their ability to improve blood circulation and reduce the risk of clots, are now gaining popularity among athletes.

These specialist socks not only help prevent painful blisters and chafing but also cushion the feet against the impact of hard surfaces and enhance blood flow to aid recovery. Danish Endurance, a company that designs high-performance, sustainable sports gear in Denmark, was founded in 2015 as a result of the search for quality compression socks.

CEO and co-founder, Nicolaj, who is also an enthusiastic runner, launched the company with his brother Christoffer, with compression socks being their first product. The company maintains that these socks continue to be a key product in their range today.

Designed to enhance circulation, reduce fatigue, and promote faster recovery for athletes, these sports compression socks are now available at a 15% discount. Reduced online to £23 from £26 for one pair, these socks come in a wide variety of colours – from basic black and white to combinations like blue/yellow and yellow/white.

These are also available in two-pack pairs for £42, currently discounted to £38. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best at marathon level or just starting out in the sport, runners typically share one universal experience: feet and calf muscles can take quite a beating during regular training sessions, reports Wales Online.

Boost circulation and reduce swelling with our Compression Socks to enhance blood flow and oxygenation

These compression socks have proven beneficial for wearers who’ve reported they’ve made a ‘big difference’ to their longer runs.

One customer mentioned that they could feel the socks working as they wore them. They’re crafted from breathable, durable, anti-bacterial yarn and can be used not only for sports but also for travel, recovery, or even when standing for extended periods.

The brand claims that their 21-26mmHg compression enhances circulation and reduces swelling, while also providing ankle support and anti-blister cushioning. Graduated compression means they are tightest at the ankle (15–20 mmHg) and gradually loosen up to the calf, with a sturdy outer layer and an inner jersey layer that feels comfortable against the skin, whether worn under trail boots or cycling shoes.

Graduated compression indicates that they are most firm at the ankle (15–20 mmHg) and taper off towards the calf, featuring a robust outer layer and an inner jersey layer that is cosy against the skin, whether worn under hiking boots or cycling shoes. The mmHg signifies the level of pressure exerted on the calf/ankle/leg.

They’re available in sizes S–2XL and feature comprehensive ankle and calf sizing charts to guarantee accurate compression levels. Putting them on requires minimal fuss, courtesy of their stretchy cuff design, while a silicone-print grip prevents any slippage or movement that could see them bunched up inside footwear.

The manufacturer offers an extensive selection of additional products, including calf compression sleeves, presently discounted to £20 from £24. Their Plantar Fasciitis socks are also on offer at £22, down from £29, which they claim deliver targeted compression to alleviate heel discomfort and boost blood flow.

For alternative choices, Stox provides an extensive collection of compression socks. At £44.99, they’re offered in multiple colour combinations such as white/black, black/grey and dark blue/bright blue, featuring graduated compression of 23-32 mmHg (CCL 2) plus cushioned toe and heel sections for enhanced comfort.

Decathlon stocks the KIPRUN 500 Running Compression Socks Black/Yellow at £14.99, available in smoke black/fluo pale yellow. These are better suited for active use rather than recovery, with the retailer recommending calf measurements for optimal sizing.

Danish Endurance buyers have shared numerous testimonials online, with one reviewer commenting: “I tried compression socks as when I run in shorts I find my calves ache. These socks have stopped all of the ache and I have no problems after my runs. Won’t run without them now.”

One satisfied customer praised the socks, saying: “Excellent socks, have made a big difference on longer runs.”

Another user, who wears them at work, explained: “My job means I am stood up all day. I would go home with swelling to my ankles and feet that felt tight and uncomfortable. I have just purchased these socks and worn them on three occasions. They really do work. You can actually feel them working whilst you wear them.”

However, one customer had a preference for a specific colour fit, stating: “The black stockings are very good, helpful and in wonderful quality. But I cannot use the white pair, it’s much too tight. But in all a great quality.”

Another person chimed in: “They are almost perfect. If they had a little more cushion they would be 100%.”
