RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star ‘punched in head’ after ‘homophobic abuse’

By staff29 July 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Pixie Polite was reportedly punched by a man whilst in a Tesco store in London this week, with them saying that it came after ‘verbal homophobic abuse’

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Pixie Polite was reportedly assaulted at a Tesco store in London. The drag artist, whose real name is Mark Wickens, said they were punched by a man inside the store on Monday night.

Pixie, 32, posted about the situation on Instagram. They told fans that the alleged incident “evolved from general comments and mocking, into verbal homophobic abuse, then into violence”. Police are thought to have been alerted and the drag artist shared that they had visited hospital.

Pixie, who finished in fifth spot in the 2022 edition of RuPaul’s hit series, reportedly suffered a suspected concussion in the incident. Doctors are said to have found their symptoms were ‘conducive with a general head injury’.

The incident is said to be under investigation with the Metropolitan Police launching a probe. It’s said the alleged attack is being treated as a “hate crime”.

While there have been no arrests made as of yet, Pixie is being supported by officers. They claimed to have taken a photo of the alleged assaulter, with the incident also reportedly caught on CCTV.

Pixie has praised the police for their help to date, saying they have been “surprisingly great”.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At 18:10hrs on Monday, 28 July officers responded to reports of assault and verbal abuse inside a shop on High Street Colliers Wood, Merton.

“Police spoke with one victim, a person in their 30s. An investigation has been launched and the incident is being treated as a hate crime. Enquiries are ongoing. At this stage no arrests have been made.”

They continued: “The victim is being supported by officers. We understand the impact this will have had on the LGBTQ+ community. If you have any concerns please speak to a local police officer.”

They went on to appeal for members of the public with any information to contact them on 101 referencing CAD 5855/28JUL. To remain completely anonymous you can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.
