Ruth Langsford, 64, said she started getting extensions after noticing that her hair was getting thinner during the menopause – and shared an update with her fans on Instagram
Ruth Langsford has unveiled her new hairstyle after her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes attended an event with his new girlfriend.
The Loose Women star, 64, told her fans she started getting hair extensions “not for length, but for thickness” after noticing it was getting thinner. She has now shared a video on Instagram to reveal her blonde locks and to show her fans what her natural hair looks like before getting her extensions done again.
She wrote in the caption of her video: “Apparently there’s been a 60% increase in women seeking help for hair loss….we talked about it on @loosewomen on Tuesday and we all had our own stories. My hair got thinner during menopause which is why I started having hair extensions….not for length, but for thickness.
“I had clip in pieces first, then I progressed to tapes and now I have LOTS of keratin bonds, really small ones so they’re very discreet. Just wanted to show you my natural hair before I get my extensions done again @leobancroft tomorrow….watch this space!”
In the comment section, many fans shared their own experiences of thinning hair with one saying: “Also I had the best head of hair. I had sepsis earlier this year it’s almost all gone gutted but I’m still alive!” Another added: “Hi Ruth I’m 54 and I’m the same so I’ve started herbal tablets called hair volume and I can see lots of new hair growing through think it will take a while they are quite expensive but they are working on me.”
One more person commented: “It looks great either way, but my worry is will constantly having extensions put in and taken out make my hair loss worse? Xx” However, other fans told Ruth that they think she looks better without extension, with one saying: “I prefer it without the extensions, thought on Loose Women the other day that it didn’t look good, more like a wig.”
Someone else wrote: “Your hair looks really nice here. Soft and shaped.” One more added: “Your hair is gorgeous. I don’t think it looks thin I think it’s lovely and love the colour too.” It comes days after Ruth’s husband of 14 years went public with his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 43, at the Irish Post Awards. While the couple didn’t pose on the red carpet together, they were both seen at the event, which was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week.
A source exclusively told the Mirror: “While Eamonn waited for the ceremony to begin he enjoyed his dinner in the company of his new girlfriend Katie. The pair seemed relaxed and were inseparable.” Katie cut an elegant appearance in a silky black dress with her hair tied into a stylish updo.
But we have been told that while they appeared at the event as a duo, Eamonn requested that photographers not take pictures of them together while at their dinner table. While it has been reported that Eamonn and Katie met on social media, The Sun recently claimed that they had been in contact “12 years ago.”
A source told The Sun: “We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went. Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.” They added: “At the outset George joined in with the online banter. He would never have guessed Katie was going to get together with Eamonn years down the line.”
This claim has remained as speculation as neither Eamonn or Katie have confirmed the duration of their contact. And there has never been a suggestion the pair had become romantic while still married.
