Ryan Thomas only had ‘£1 left’ in business account after ITV show axed

By staff19 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas reportedly only had £1 left in his business account following the cancellation of his prime time ITV show 99 To Beat

Soap star Ryan Thomas ended January 2025 with just £1 left in his business account. This comes after his prime-time ITV show 99 To Beat was axed.

The actor initially found fame as Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street. His business account, R James Thomas Ltd., is used to hold the funds he earns from various TV and social media work.

According to financial statements filed this month with Companies House for the year ending on 26 January 2025, the “cash at bank and in hand” was £1. This is appreciably lower than the year before, which ended with £41,361 in the bank.

This may not be the situation now, nor does it meanThomas was in a dire financial situation, as the company was owed money. The amount they were owed by unknown debtors is higher than the amount the company owed to creditors, including their tax bill, and, based on the documents, those funds were expected to be paid into the account within the same time period as when Thomas had to pay out from it.

Equity is the total amount owned by and owed to the company, less the amount the company owes. R James Ltd.’s total assets were £148,466 and when all money owed was taken into account, the company was left with a total equity of £28,725.

According to Companies House, Thomas was also appointed as a director of The Thomas Brothers Entertainment Ltd. in May this year, at the same time the company was incorporated. Both his brothers, Adam Thomas and Scott Thomas, are also directors. All three brothers own 33 out of 99 shares each, nominally valued at £1 a share. The company has yet to provide any financial statements.

Thomas co-hosts a podcast with his brothers called At Home With The Thomas Bros. Earlier this year, he was also hosting 99 To Beat, an ITV game show, with his brother Adam. The show was described as a physical challenge inspired by Netflix’s Korean drama Squid Game and saw 100 players go head to head in a number of games to win a cash prize of £25,000. It was cancelled after one series.

Adam Thomas revealed his true feelings about the show’s cancellation on one of his podcasts, Mancs On The Mic: “When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled. Honestly, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

“Like I did Extra Camp [I’m a Celebrity’s spin-off show] presenting, did one series of that, got cancelled. The next presenting job I did was with Ryan, 99 To Beat, and that’s got cancelled.”

Talking about the show, an ITV spokesperson had plenty of praise, but did not confirm why the show was cancelled. They said: “99 To Beat is the biggest entertainment launch this year across all channels and streaming platforms.

“It reached 12.5 million viewers and was streamed over 4 million times on ITVX. The Thomas brothers are fantastic presenters, but unfortunately at this stage we will not be recommissioning.”

The Mirror has contacted Ryan Thomas’ team for comment.
