Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and TK Maxx customers told to ‘return’ products to stores

By staff30 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

There have been a number of product recalls from a number of retailers

It might be worth inspecting your cupboards and fridges to see if you possess any products that have been withdrawn by the Food Standards Agency. Food items can be withdrawn for various reasons, including contamination with harmful bacteria such as listeria or salmonella which could cause food poisoning.

Additional causes include production defects, such as fragments of plastic or metal discovered in the item. Missing or inaccurate allergen details can also result in an allergen withdrawal. Food companies are accountable for withdrawing unsafe products, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The Food Standards Agency collaborates closely with local councils and the food sector to issue consumer alerts when food items are withdrawn. This week items have been withdrawn from retail giants Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx outlets.

Shoppers are typically advised to bring products back to shops and obtain a complete refund. Customers are cautioned against consuming or using withdrawn products for safety purposes.

The most recent product withdrawals and the steps you need to take if you own a withdrawn item are listed below:.

Sainsbury’s

This item was withdrawn by Sainsbury’s from its Habitat homeware section. Habitat Seed Pod Bowl Filler has been removed from shelves by the retail giant. Sainsbury’s is withdrawing the product as it could be “toxic” to people and pets if consumed.

  • Product name: Habitat Seed Pod Bowl Filler.
  • Product code: 146383921.
  • Product description: Ornamental seed pods.

The supermarket confirms on its website: “If you have purchased, please bag and return to store for a full refund. Please do not dispose of in compost heaps, food or garden waste bins.

“We take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously and would like to apologise to customers affected for any inconvenience this may cause. No other Habitat home products are affected by this recall.”

Sainsbury’s is withdrawing the product because the seeds contained within the pods pose a toxic threat to both humans and animals if consumed. The outer casing of the seed pod remains safe to touch.

The item fails to comply with standards set out in the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

TK Maxx and Homesense

Shoppers at TK Maxx and Homesense are being warned against consuming a recalled product that TJX Europe has withdrawn from customers nationwide. The retailer is pulling Les Florentins chocolat biscuits from shelves after discovering they contain unlisted gluten that doesn’t appear on the label or packaging.

Product names:

  • Caramel Chocolat Lait – Best before date: July 2 2026
  • Citron Chocolat Noir – Best before date: June 19 2026
  • Fruits Rouges Chocolat Noir- Best before date: June 20 2026
  • Menthe Chocolat Noir – Best before date: July 7 2026
  • Orange Chocolat Noir – Best before date: June 20 2026
  • Orange Chocolat Lair – Best before date: July 3 2026

Batch numbers (same order as above):

  • 18325
  • 17025
  • 17125
  • 18825
  • 17125
  • 18425

The UK Food Standards Agency has issued guidance stating: “If you have bought the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to gluten, do not eat them. Instead, return them to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a refund or a replacement. For more information contact TJX Europe Customer Service on 01923 473561 or email: [email protected].”

Morrisons

A product has been recalled from Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Morrisons. The Jolly Hog is withdrawing The Jolly Hog Leek Porkers 6 British Sausages because they contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product poses a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. This recall affects Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Morrisons stores only, other supermarkets are not impacted by the recall.

  • Product name: The Jolly Hog Leek Porkers 6 British Sausages.
  • Pack size 400g.
  • Use by: September 28 2025.

This product contains milk making it a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. The Food Standards Agency states: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. You can contact The Jolly Hog customer care via email [email protected].” In its recall, Jolly Hog said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your co-operation.”
