As the summer break comes to an end and families gear up for the new academic year, parents are focusing on sourcing dependable, high-quality school uniforms for their youngsters. Longevity, comfort and value for money top the list of priorities for mums and dads, helping ensure their little ones feel self-assured and prepared for learning.

With these needs in mind, supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has unveiled its fresh Tu school uniform range for 2025, featuring skirts from £5 and triple-pack shirts for £4.

The new line has been said to be crafted with pupils’ comfort and self-esteem at its heart, with hard-wearing garments that can cope with playground antics and hectic school schedules. The clothing boasts colour retention through advanced technology to preserve hues and whiteness, plus permanent pleats and pressed creases.

Within the range is the Black Bow Detail Skirt from £5 for three to six years old, £6 for seven to 10 and £7 for 11 to 12 years which features an adjustable waistband, bow detailing and permanent pleats designed to maintain their shape throughout the day.

Another option is the 3 Pack White Unisex Long Sleeve Shirt Generous Fit from £4 for three to six, £6 for seven to 10 and £8 for 11 to 12 which requires no ironing, boasts long sleeves, a chest pocket for storing essentials and complete button fastening, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Sainsbury’s Tu Clothing has a range of items starting from £4.

There are also 2 Pack Navy Skinny Fit Trousers with Reinforced Knees and Extendable Hem Longer Leg from £14 for three to six year olds, £18 for seven to 10, £22 for 11 and 12 and £24 for 13 to 16 years which are stain-resistant, feature an adjustable waistband and include pockets.

For those seeking a pinafore, there’s the Black Jersey Pinafore with Bow Pocket Detail from £5 for three to six year olds, £7 for seven to 10 year olds and £9 for 11 and 12 which comes in grey as well, showcasing a crew neckline, pockets and bow embellishments.

Additionally, if this particular brand doesn’t suit everyone’s needs, there’s a variety of alternative options available. For instance, New Look stocks the Girls Black Adjustable Waist School Skirt for £9.99 which is available in various sizes, crafted from comfort stretch fabric, features a slim fit and boasts an above-the-knee length.

Meanwhile, the M&S Collection 2pk Unisex Pure Cotton School T-Shirts costs between £5 to £11 and are offered in multiple colour combinations.

Whilst there are no direct reviews on Tu, customers have flocked to Trustpilot to voice their opinions. One shopper commented: “Quality school shirts , good price too recommend.”

Another remarked: “Happy with all of them and will continue to choose all my kids school uniforms from you.”

However, not all feedback was positive, with one critic stating: “Always buy school uniform from Tu. really good quality with a great price and Sizing is pretty spot on. Lack of availability online would be my only bad point. Certain sizes sell out really fast and they don’t restock before schools go back.”

Another buyer noted: “Original item was incorrectly sized. Ordered larger size and now good.”

While one customer gushed: “I love the boys school wear, I always buy everything from the school range as the price and quality are fantastic.”

Sainsbury’s Tu school clothing range is available from their website.
