Police have launched a search after a 15-year-old – who was last seen paddleboarding on Loch Ore, Lochgelly in Fife on Saturday afternoon – was reported missing
A search continues for a teenage boy who went missing on Saturday while paddleboarding in a Scottish lake.
Emergency services were called to Loch Ore, in Loch Ore Meadows, Lochgelly, at about 5.25pm.
Police said they had received a “report of concern” for the boy, 15, who had been out paddleboarding.
Dramatic images from the scene yesterday showed rescue teams arriving with a lifeboat and conducting searches across the loch’s surface.
A search for the missing teenager was launched, and a coastguard helicopter was deployed alongside coastguard rescue teams from St Andrews, Queensferry and Leven.
“Extensive searches” involving the police and coastguard are continuing on Sunday, and people have been asked to avoid the area.
Temporary air space restrictions are in place in the Lochore Meadows area until 9am on Monday.
Police said restrictions apply to all aircraft, including drones, and that it is a criminal offence to fly in a restricted airspace.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed yesterday: “Around 5.25pm on Saturday, 28 June, 2025 we were called to Loch Ore Meadows, Lochgelly after receiving a report of concern for a male who had been paddle boarding. Emergency services, including the Coastguard, are in attendance and extensive searches are being carried out. Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask people to please avoid the area if possible.”
