Selena Gomez and her partner Benny Blanco are rumoured to be getting married later this month after having announced their engagement towards the end of last year
Bride-to-be Selena Gomez’s wedding planning was reportedly not “smooth sailing” at one point. The singer-songwriter is said to have taken on much of the preparations for the nuptials ahead of marrying her fiancé Benny Blanco.
Selena, 33, and music producer Benny, 37, announced that they had got engagement in December last year. Then, last month, she had a hen do in Mexico ahead of the couple’s wedding, which is rumoured to be taking place this month.
It’s now been suggested that wedding planning hasn’t been “smooth sailing” for Selena in the lead-up to the nuptials. Benny reportedly told her to make “most” of the decisions and they are said to both have a tendency to procrastinate.
A source suggested to the Daily Mail that Selena has been doing a lot of the preparations on her own. They said that Benny has told her that it is her wedding first and foremost, with it considered the couple’s wedding secondly.
They said that Benny is “ecstatic” that he will be exchanging vows with Selena, whom he worked with on the collaborative album I Said I Love You First, released in March, though. He’s said to be “forever grateful” that she’s marrying him.
According to the source: “[Benny] told her that he wants her to make most of the decisions.” They added that the planning process “wasn’t smooth sailing” initially as a result, in part due to a shared tendency to procrastinate. They said that friends have accused Benny of being a “bit lazy”.
The source said that whilst it appears to be a “nice gesture” to let Selena do “whatever she wants” for the wedding, it has led to some tension. They claimed that she feels that her fiancé “could step up and make some decisions” himself.
They added that the relationship isn’t struggling but said that the couple’s inner circle believes that the dynamic “won’t change” in the future and could become a “quirk” in their marriage. The source concluded: “[It’s] smooth sailing now, because everything has been paid for and figured out.”
It comes after Selena shared a series of loved-up photos of herself and Benny on Instagram this evening. They showed the bride-to-be and her partner at a lakehouse with loved ones, with her writing in the post: “Lake life.”
One photo showed Benny hugging his fiancée as he stood behind her in a garden by the lake, with a jetty visible in the background behind the couple. Selena had her hand over his as the groom-to-be appeared to kiss her cheek.
Another showed them sat beside each other on the jetty, with Benny looking towards his partner. Whilst a third photo of them that was included in the photo tonight showed the couple sat at a table together as they kissed each other.
The Daily Mail previously reported that their wedding is due to be a two-day event in Montecito, California, this month. It’s been suggested that the guestlist includes celebrity pals like Taylor Swift as well as Selena’s Only Murders In The Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short.
