Money Saving Expert’s weekly newsletter has a guide to all the current bank account switch incentives
Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert (MSE) newsletter is packed with information on how to get the most out of your money – and now the experts have revealed that there are seven banks offering free cash before Christmas. It also details how to earn £100, simply by opening an account – no need to switch.
Switching bank accounts is simple using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). This service safeguards your money – both incoming and outgoing from the old account – and typically completes within seven working days.
Barclays, Club Lloyd, TSB, First Direct, Nationwide and NatWest are all vying for your business, ready to offer free cash, bonuses and exclusive perks to secure the deal. Santander is also throwing in a £100 Amazon gift voucher, just for opening an account – again, ideal at a time where Christmas presents are being bought.
The most generous giveaway is targeted at high earners. The Barclays Premier bank account is dishing out £400 in free cash – to be paid by December 9 – along with a complimentary subscription to Apple TV+. However, MSE.com cautions that you need to be earning £75,000 or more annually to qualify, reports the Daily Record.
But do not panic if you don’t earn this high salary as the team at MSE revealed another Barclays switch deal. This offers £200 in free cash and complimentary Apple TV+, if you also join Barclays’ Blue Rewards scheme.

The Reward scheme costs £5 per month, but the team at MSE pointed out that you can cancel it as soon as you receive the switch bonus. The payout date is also December 9.
First Direct is offering a £175 bonus, with the payout due by November 20. This offer includes a £250 interest-free overdraft and access to a savings account with a 7.00% AER. Once approved, you’ll gain immediate access to the account and a virtual card.
Club Lloyds is offering £200 with payout by November 12. The Club Lloyds and Premier Accounts come with a £5 and £15 monthly fee and it’s worth remembering that if you received a bonus for switching to Lloyds, Bank of Scotland or Halifax Bank in the past five years.
Nationwide is offering a £175 bonus within 10 days of completing the switch. Additionally, it is also offering £175 by November 21 – plus £3 per month cashback and a 5.5% linked regular saver.
