In a post on X that has now been seen more than three million times, Lynx shared the sad news with its followers
Just days after Lipton shocked fans by announcing it was discontinuing its beloved peach-flavoured iced tea, Lynx set X ablaze with its very own bombshell.
On Thursday evening, Lynx shared on its official X account that the beloved Africa fragrance was on the chopping block. The tweet has since had over three million impressions and over 28,000 likes.
‘Devastated’ fans soon swooped in on the comments, with one saying: “What will I get for Christmas now?” Lynx later replied: “Maybe something you actually asked for.”

The brand also shared: “Maybe one day, Lynx Africa will make a legendary comeback. Fans are convinced that both Lipton and Lynx are playing an early April Fools joke, and the recent announcement from Lynx has all the makings of a well-timed stunt.
Lynx has been busy rolling out a fresh lineup of Fine Fragrances. The newcomers include scents such as Cherry Spritz, Cocoa Velvet, and others that feel distinctly different from the ‘teenage boy’s first deodorant’ category.
Some of the new fragrances even seem to have a more unisex or sophisticated appeal, making them a surprisingly affordable option for Mother’s Day gifting this year. You can currently find all of the new Fine Fragrance scents at Boots on offer for only £3.33 each. There are also fragrance discovery sets on Amazon and Boots for £30, especially for the mums who love richer notes.
In reviews for Cocoa Velvet, one shopper shared: “My husband felt this was a bit too feminine for him, but that’s OK as I now have a great chocolate deodorant for me to use!”
A second person raved: “This smells absolutely amazing, you forget it’s deodorant. The scent of vanilla and cedar wood is very powerful and more like a luxurious, expensive perfume than a deodorant, and the infused oil makes this a perfect combination.
“After going to work, then straight to the gym, I was amazed at how fresh I still smelled. The compliments I got while wearing this were amazing. It’s definitely value for money, and a little goes a long way. I would say it’s unisex and could be worn by either male or female.”
However, one comment noted: “Very long-lasting, but a little bit too potent for me.” For those looking for an alternative to floral-heavy perfumes this Mother’s Day, a sleek, citrusy body spray could be a fun and unexpected option.
The affordable scents have been formulated by world-renowned perfumers from two of the premier fragrance houses – Givaudan and Firmenich. While we’re still mourning the potential loss of Lipton’s peach iced tea (seriously, why?), now is a great time to embrace the new Fine Fragrances from Lynx.
Alternatively, strangelove has released the perfect discovery set for Mother’s Day at Harrods for £90. Jo Malone has also launched a best-seller discovery set for £90 to explore the brand’s most loved fragrances.
