Shoppers praise ‘comfiest dress ever’ with ‘genius’ feature that’s ‘great for holidays’

As the weather warms up, fashion fans will be getting their pins out as they reach for shorter hemlines – but mini dresses often come with a side of anxiety about sudden gusts of wind and potential wardrobe malfunctions. However, I think I’ve come across an outfit that offers the ultimate solution, and shoppers are calling it ‘genius’.

A lightweight dress is an easy, throw-on-and-go option for sunny days, but they’re not always the most practical. But Abercrombie & Fitch has the perfect outfit for those wanting to look cute without the risk of a fashion mishap.

The brand’s Linen-Blend Button Skort Dress looks like a summery mini dress, but combines the breeziness of a classic sundress with the practicality of built-in shorts, making it the ultimate go-to for warm-weather adventures. Costing £52, shoppers have said it’s ‘great for holidays’, while others have hailed it the ‘comfiest dress ever’.

Made from 53% linen and 47% cotton, the dress is made from two of the coolest fabrics to wear in hotter weather. Breathable and lightweight, it’s destined to be packed in a suitcase for a tropical getaway, but works equally well for the British summertime.

Described as ‘flattering’, the dress comes in five colours and patterns, including red, black, cherry print, black gingham and a fun blue fruit design. It features side button detail and is available in sizes XXS to XXL, which works out at size 4-24. There are three lengths to choose from – petite, regular and tall – and the dress even has adjustable cami straps to allow for the most comfortable fit.

Of course, the feature everyone has been raving about is the built-in shorts, which are completely undetectable. Some skorts will look like a skirt at the front and shorts at the back, but these are completely hidden away, keeping the aesthetic of a classic mini dress.

The benefit of a skort is not just for that of unexpected breezes, but spontaneous summer plans and activities, too. No longer will fashion fans need to worry about going for a bike ride or sitting cross-legged at a picnic.

Skorts are seeing a rise in popularity, it seems, for providing coverage and confidence without sacrificing style. I recently wore this Reclaimed Vintage slinky skort dress in dark plum for a night out (£36 at ASOS) and loved being able to dance the night away without constantly pulling down my dress.

Meanwhile, Hollister’s Ruched Bubble Skort Dress costs £39.95 and has hidden bathroom-friendly shorts, pockets and an open back detail.

As for the Abercrombie and Fitch number, it’s been lauded by fans. One said: “Great for holiday,” with a second adding: “Comfiest dress ever, love the shorts underneath.”

“This is genius as a skort but as a dress! It’s very comfy and not tight fitting,” wrote a third. Another penned: “Such a cute dress and so handy to have it as a skort, will be perfect for the summer.”

Some suggested it’s not as good for those who are curvier, commenting: “Really cute outfit but more suited for a straight body or someone with a smaller hip. For someone with curvier bum and hip, and smaller top it’s not the best fit. Doesn’t have a zip so hard to get a over hip and to not be too baggy on top.”

A sixth shopper added: “Such a flattering dress that is so practical for everyday life in the sun!” While another praised the pockets, commenting: “Love that it has pockets and it’s such a comfy style for summer. Obsessed with the gingham too!”

It’s safe to say that skorts are certainly going to have a moment in summer 2025, and Abercrombie and Fitch’s linen-blend number ticks all the practicality and style boxes. You can shop the £52 dress and choose your favourite design here.
