Aldi’s luxury-inspired £6.99 Hotel Collection candle is going viral for being a bargain alternative to Diptyque’s £79 buy
Aldi is fast becoming the go-to destination for luxury-inspired home buys, and it’s latest festive launch proves exactly why.
The supermarket’s Hotel Collection dropped in stores last week and includes a range of designer-inspired pieces for a fraction of the price.
And the Hotel Collection Classic Ceramic Candle has gone viral on social media, with shoppers claiming it could easily pass for a £79 Diptyque candle, but at £6.99 its price is far more purse-friendly.
The candle comes in a chic ceramic jar that looks a lot more expensive than the price tag suggests. And it’s available in three different scents: Sweet Iris, Rose & Clove, and Fig Tree.

The Fig Tree scent, which blends woody, fruity fig notes to create a Christmas-ready candle, appears to be the most popular on social media.
Fans are already rushing to stock up before the candles inevitably sell out.
TikTok user @alexkirwinhome posted a video about how she managed to get her hands on the “viral Aldi Christmas candle”, and was flooded with comments from Aldi shoppers.
One wrote: “Smells amazing I’ve just got one this evening”. While a second user added: “I’ve got the fig scent too, it smells lovely when lit”.
However, one user argued that the smell isn’t similar to Diptyque’s popular Figuier scent, but the packaging gives off the same luxury vibe.
They wrote: “In my opinion the smell of them aren’t dupes at all because I have the perfumes so I know my Diptique. The jar that the candle is in is similar tho”.
