Sky TV down: Thousands unable to watch television as service suffers huge outage

By staff15 May 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Thousands of people have been left unable to watch Sky this evening with reports of the platform suffering a major outage around 10pm and currently there is no sign of it improving

Sky customers are reporting a major Sky outage and they have not been able to watch television from around 10pm this evening.

People around the country are saying they have no signal with one person on X writing: “Loads reporting Sky TV boxes randomly turning themselves off and unable to turn on again without power cycling first.” More than 30,000 people have reported problems with Sky on the website Downdetector.

Users say they have no signal on their television and are having to shut down their Sky Q boxes, while others are having issues with their internet.

One customer wrote: “Mine [Sky box] says ‘you can’t watch TV at the moment due to connectivity problem’. But my internet is fine and the box is connected. Has to be [a problem] at Sky’s end.” Another had the same issue, writing: “Mines completely gone off, can’t get on the app. Can’t do nothing.”

There have been many people complaining on social media. One person wrote: “What’s going on with #SkyTV ? It’s crashed twice. Seems others are reporting the same.”

Another asked: “What is going on once again? Sky keeps crashing. Internet on and off. Always on a Thursday when darts is on as well.’ They added: ‘Sort it out.”

One Sky user said it was total blackout on her television as she was greeted with the message “please wait while we load your programme” before it shut down.

The outage seemed to begin some time after 9pm this evening with a spike up to 30,000 an hour later. Reports did then subside to below 20,000 but they have since risen up and they currently stand at 30,312.
