Sky has just announced its new Essential TV package which includes Netflix, Discovery+ and access to more than 100 channels for £15 – the cheapest price we’ve seen

Sky has unveiled a handful of new TV packages that will make Christmas Day streaming even easier. With Sky’s new Essential TV bundle, members can tune into more than 100 channels like Sky Atlantic, plus countless films and series on Netflix and Discovery+, for £15 per month over the festive period and beyond.

This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen from the company – even beating the £19 Black Friday deal – and is available to those willing to switch to a new Sky Stream box. This device uses internet connectivity instead of a satellite dish to deliver content to your television, offering features like personalised recommendations, easy access to streaming apps and a smart Playlist function for storing content, reports the Express.

But not every channel is included in the Essential TV bundle, with the likes of Sky Max, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Showcase and Sky Witness only available with the new Ultimate TV bundle at £22 per month – down from £26. This premium package also offers viewing options such as U&alibi, Comedy Central, U&GOLD and National Geographic.

There’s also the options for film and sports fans, like the £25 Essential TV and Sky Cinema bundle, which is packed with new and upcoming blockbusters like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and A Quiet Place: Day One, as well as Christmas classics like Elf and Love Actually. The Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, with all nine dedicated Sky Sports channels, now comes in at £35 per month.

TV lovers can now get Sky TV, Netflix and Discovery+ for £15 per month with the new Essential TV bundle.

This delivers live and on-demand TV without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The Day of the Jackal and the upcoming second season of Squid Game.

Of the new packages, Ben Case, Managing Director Sky TV, said: “We’re excited to share our world-class TV experience with even more people, at an everyday low price with Sky Essential TV. Our new TV pack makes it easier than ever to get the biggest and best shows from Sky, Netflix and discovery+ all in one place, just in time for the Christmas TV season.”

If you’re thinking of joining Sky Stream, here are five key things to keep in mind:

  • A solid broadband connection is crucial – 50Mbps or higher is recommended.
  • The device is a breeze to install yourself, no engineer visits required.
  • Save your favourite programmes for later enjoyment using the online Playlists feature, though there’s no hard disk for storage.
  • Enjoy a range of pre-installed apps including Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+.
  • Bear in mind, if your broadband goes down, so does your access to TV, since it’s all streamed.

If you want a TV as well as a streaming box then it’s worth considering Sky Glass – the telly with all the features of Stream along with a 4K display and built-in soundbar – which now starts at £29 per month. It’s also worth taking a look at Virgin Media’s TV packages, as they also include fibre broadband.

Virgin’s plans now start at £31.99 for the monthly rolling M125Fibre Broadband + Flex plan, which includes more than 150 TV channels and 132Mbps broadband.
