The culinary whizz, also known as Nathan Anthony, is famed for his easy-to-follow air fryer and slow cooker recipes that are ideal for busy families on a budget.
His scrumptious sausage casserole requires minimal preparation and can be cooked in the slow cooker in just a few hours. It’s the perfect dish to prepare in the morning, ready to welcome you home with a mouth-watering homemade meal.
The secret ingredient? Baked beans—an addition he claims is ‘so underrated’, but makes the casserole all the more tasty. Aside from sausages and a handful of pantry staples, that’s all you’ll need to create this comforting dish.
Here’s how you can recreate this recipe at home:
Slow cooker sausage casserole
Ingredients (serves four)
- 12 sausages
- One red pepper, chopped
- One white onion, chopped finely
- Tsp paprika
- Tsp dried mixed herbs
- Two tbsp tomato puree
- Tsp garlic puree
- Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Two 400g tins of baked beans
- 150ml chicken stock
- Salt and pepper
- Mashed potatoes and fresh parsley to serve
Method
This recipe couldn’t be simpler to prepare. All you need to do is pan-fry your sausages until golden, then pop them into the slow cooker alongside all the remaining ingredients.
Then, set it to cook on high for three to four hours or low for seven to eight hours. Nathan suggests serving with some creamy mash on the side and a garnish of fresh parsley.
